first started missing - replaced plugs - ran 1/2 way - replaced plug wires - somewhat better - then drove 200 miles and ran HORRIBLE - put in shop - been there for 2 months - they said engine coolant leaked from "overhead/bypass" and got into plugs - now pulled heads and say it is cracked intake manifold????

    FORD:
    1999-2000 MUSTANG

2000 ECONOLINE, EXCURSION, EXPEDITION, F-150, SUPER DUTY F SERIES

    ISSUE:
The intake manifold may leak or weep coolant from passenger side gasket at right rear corner of head-to-manifold joint.

    ACTION:
A new unique passenger side intake manifold gasket has been developed for service and will be available in production later in 2000. This gasket is not to be used on the driver's side. When ordering parts, continue using the existing left side gasket and use the revised gasket for the right side. Refer to the applicable Workshop Manual, Section 303-01 under heading "Intake Manifold Removal, In-Vehicle Service" for procedure details.

    NOTE:
TAKE EXTREME CAUTION NOT TO ALLOW FOREIGN MATERIAL TO ENTER INTAKE PASSAGES WHILE MANIFOLD IS REMOVED. USE TAPE TO COVER INTAKE PORTS IN HEAD WHILE MANIFOLD IS REMOVED FOR GASKET SERVICE.

SOURCE: coolant in # 1 cylnder\clean intake port of intake manifold

Check the lower intake gasket again the new gaskets that are being use made out of plastic with rubber port seals sometimes don't seal right I still used gasket sealer with the new plastic gasket even if it has rubber seals. MY 4.2 v6 had that problem but I went ahead and replaced the head gaskets also just to cover all the bases. And my F-150 has 210,000 miles on it. Make sure you tight the bolts I know it probably calls for something like 8 ft lbs which to me is not tight enough. Double it.

SOURCE: My 1999 chevy tahoe is leaking antifreeze. I

it could but- check passenger side front where heater core line go into manifold right behind alternator the hose line is connected by a press clip into an alloy fitting this fitting gets eaten away by anti freeze and hose angle pulls back on fitting the part is $18 at dealer and is screwed into manifold use caution if ur r going to replace at very edge of aluminum manifold---and check ur water pump bolts the 2 longer ones should have a lock sealant on them they bolt in thru a water jacket

Intake manifold leak fixed

An engine needs three things to run air, fuel, spark. So check to make sure air supply is adequate. Check fuel supply. Check to see that all air has been bled from the injector rails. Check wiring again . Make sure ground strap is reattached from firewall to engine. Pull off a plug wire and check for spark. If distributor was removed make sure it was reinstalled correctly and it is not 180 degrees off. Recheck all plug together connectors. Hope this helps.

Coolent leaking from rear of engine cant see from where

ACCORDING WITH THE MODEL AND YEAR AND IF YOU HAVE A 4.6L ENGINE IS PRETTY COMMON LEAKS FROM THE INTAKE MANIFOLD TO THE CENTER OF THE ENGINE AND IS WHY YOU CANT SEE WHERE IS COMING FROM BECAUSE THE ANTIFREEZE RUNS TO THE BACK I RECOMEND TO CHECK THAT AND USUALLY YOU HAVE TO REPLACE GASKETS AND MANIFOLD BECAUSE THEY MELT DOWN ON THE UNION WITH THE LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD(PROBABLY NEED TO REPLACE ONLY THE UPPER ONE)

2000 chevy impala ls - oil spray under hood inline with serpentine belt

You may have a lower intake manifold gasket leak (or a head gasket leak-slightly less probable) the lower intake can leak onto the serpentine belt and fling oil (and/or antifreeze). The lower intake manifold gasket is usually the culprit here. There is much information about changing it if you are inclined to do it yourself. If not, expect around 800 to 1200 to fix at dealer/mechanic. This is usually accompanied by (but not always) oil in the antifreeze, or antifreeze in the oil...
