it's the grounds if they're both flashing fast it's definitely grounds take a test light and see if its got power goes through the test light grounded to the frame and if the light comes on then it's definitely your grounds
This may sound confusing, so here goes. Normally I would say check the turn signal switch because for decades the brake light switch power went thru the turn signal switch. But in your case, its more complicated. The wiring diagram looks like you have a wire from the brake switch and another from the turn signal that joins inside the right and left rear tail lamp assembly. There are also fuses in the rear fuse box including one for just the brake lights. So its possible that fuse is dead and yet the turn signals would work. You may have to get a book with the wiring diagrams to trace the circuits.
Hey I literally just today had the same problem, put a new bulb in the light was on but did not blink!!!! SUPER EASY SOLUTION, you simply have the bulb in too far. I gently pulled mine out a tiny bit and it started working fine... guarantee that's all that's happening to you!!!
Check and make sure both front and rear left turn signal bulb light up, if they do, replace the turn signal flasher, flasher sit under dash in fuse box, if one or both bulb don't light up, replace bulb.
Bad or borken wire harness in the steering coloum. check power to brake switch, should have power on one side, if not check the fuse if fuse is good and you have no power then your turn signal switch or harness is bad.
Rear lights are double filament bulbs one side for the lights other side for the brake/turn signals so it still may be a bulb. Do u have a test light or volt meter you can check to make sure u have power there when brakes or turn signals are activated. Or just try another bulb.
