Question about 2002 Jeep Liberty

No heat in my car

It's cold outside so started my car in the morning to defrost the windows. There was no heat coming out (even after the car was warmed up). I turned the knob to cold, just to see and it got hot. Then it went cold again. So I swtiched it to Hot and it got warm then cold again. So I will have heat for my car if I keep turning from hot to cold (red to blue). Could that be the temperature control knob or something else?

It is fine. That was the first thing I checked. The temp gauge is right in the middle too so it didnt sound like the thermometer.

SOURCE: No heat for my truck

You have a problem with the temperature control blend door actuator in the air ducting system, this part can't be replaced without removing the dash assembly.

Heat problem. Heater only works sometimes. Blows out almost AC temperature majority of the time. No engine overheating problems. May or may not be related to actuator issue (vent always open)

Check to see if your heating system is properly filled. Air in system can often prevent the proper flow of hot coolant into the radiator core resulting in your issue.

Hi I have a 2005 mazda 3.. My problem is when I turn the car on my blower comes on but no heat.. As I drive my car after 5 mins my heat comes through the vents.. Any solutions??

The heat that you get from the car's heater is extracted from the engine coolant. When you first start the car, the engine coolant is as cols as the outside air, if not colder. The running engine will heat the coolant after a few minutes and then you will start to feel the heat in the vehicle. The outside temperature and the thermostat in the car are the determining factors on how fast and how hot the coolant will get. On a really cold morning 3-5 minutes is not unreasonable.

How do i keep the air conditioner from coming on

Well, you have PART of the facts. The whole truth is that the air conditioning does NOT come on if you have the heat turned on and you are using any mode OTHER than DEFROST or A/C. You may not realize it, but you WANT the air to come on when you are using the defrost mode. The reason for this is because the cold coils of the A/C evaporator causes moisture in the air to condense and the moisture then is able to collect and run out the drain tube at the bottom of the A/C housing which empties outside the car. So the air goes through the A/C coils first to be dried, then through the heater core to be heated.

Without this feature in wet weather conditions, the heater would simply heat the moisture and blow it onto your windshield and into the rest of the vehicle. This will cause your windshield to fog up WORSE than if you did not use the defrosters. This will also cause your side and rear windows to fog up as well. You have probably noticed the side windows fogging also when you are using the floor heat. Have you noticed that when you put the mode selector in the defrost position to clear the windshield, that the side and rear windows will also clear? This is because the A/C is DRYING the air inside the car.

Another part that you are probably not aware of is that if the outside air temperature is below 35 Deg. F the air conditioner compressor will not run at all - no matter WHAT mode you have it in. It won't even run in the A/C mode. This is for two reasons:
1. It protects your A/C system from operating at too low of a temperature which can cause freezing of the A/C components and damage to the system.
2. If the outside air is already cool, there will not be much moisure in it to begin with and whatever moisture there is will still condense on the A/C evaporator coils as it passes through it simply because it is cold.

You may be experiencing the A/C clutch cycling on and off in the cooler weather with the defrost on. This is NORMAL. However, if it is causing the engine to surge dramatically when it cycles, then the problem is NOT that the A/C is causing undue stress on the engine, but rather that the Idle Air Control valve (IAC) is not reacting to this change like it should. The IAC is supposed to raise the engine RPM a slight amount just as the compressor engages to lessen the affects of the extra load that is placed on the engine. Some "surging feeling" cannot be avoided, however, if it is severe, then it needs to be checked out.

I have a 93 4runner v6 manual. I went to turn the heater on the other day and no air was coming out of it but when I started driving down the freeway air started coming through the vents. When I stop

sounds like your fan is either jamned, burnt out or even frozen, you might be lucky and find its just a blown fuse, you'll need to check your fuses box then start investigating if the fan turns freely or not

if you put the air on recirc you might be able to stop cold air blowing in when you are travelling. if you are waiting for a garage to sort out the fault then get a fan powered by the cigarette lighter, air moving over the window should at least keep mist clear even if it doesnt defrost it

2007 Chrysler 300. When outside temperature is below 30 degrees, I cannot keep the windows clear of moisture and fog. Even the defroster on high has difficulty clearing and keeping the windows clear. I do...

If your car has an air conditioner turn it on as well as the heater . Air conditioned air is very dry and usually defrosts the windscreen quickly. The heat from the heater will overcome the cold air from the air/con. It is good for the air/con to be run during the winter months as well as summer, it stops the seals drying out and leaking refrigerent.

I have a 2006 Honda Accord....its been very cold outside and every morning i turn on the car and i hear a noise..not sure if its coming from the engine...but it goes away after I start driving and the...

When is really cold, and vehicles with non electrical power steering start for the first time after a good period of inactivity the power steering pump tents to wine, that is normal, some other cars or almost all the cars when they pass 100.000 miles develop a little metallic noise that goes away when the oil pump distributes and lubricates all moving parts inside the engine when the car starts first thing in the morning in a really cold morning.
