Re: Wipers are not working
Take out the bolt out of the wiper arm and check the spline, if the spline appears to be worn out, replace the wiper arm and tighten it. take caution in tightening the bolt for you might crack the windshield. goodluck!

If the wipers are not working but you can hear the motor, there is one of two problems. The wiper pivots are seized or the wiper linkage is disconnected. Can you move the wipers by hand with the wipers in the off position? If so, the linkage is disconnected. Can you move the wipers by hand with the wipers in the on position by using force? If so, suspect seized wiper pivots
It Sounds Like, Either The Arms Are Loose ,If You Can Hear Something Moving Behind The Dash, Or The Linkages Are Seized ,If The Motor Just Hums No Movement Heard,In Which Case Try Spraying Q 20 On The Linkage And Try Moving The Wiper Arms By Hand To Get It Going Again, If Not The Motor May Just Be Burn;t Out.
How to check & change a wiper motor, and repair wiper mechanism on 2001 VW Golf First time you must diagnose why windscreen wipers going slow and/or stopping. In order to find out the cause of wipers stopping you can try follows: 1. Carefully extract the wiper arms from their axles (two pieces). In some cases you need to use an extracting tool. Heed of the windscreen !!! 2. Disassemble the plastic covers from the bottom of the windscreen. 3. With the bonnet up you can start the engine, (transmission in "N" or "P" position and parking brake on). Now you must switch on the control lever of the wipers, and go to the engine compartment. If the wiper motor runs let the wiper motor running for a few minutes and switch off. Go to the step 4. If the wiper motor do not runs you must check first the electrical feeding of the motor. If the electrical feeding is OK you must replace the motor - steps 5, 6. If not, you must check electrical connections, the control switch of wipers and harness. 4. Now you must check the two bearings of wiper mechanism with your hand. In the most cases the left bearing is out of order (is very hot). This is the most encounter fault of the wipers running. 5. You must disconnect the electrical coupling of the motor (difficult assurance), unscrew three bolts of the mechanism and extract together with the motor. You must move them slowly between windscreen and engine computer box until the wiper motor go out together with the mechanism. This is the most difficult operation! 6. Now you can repair the bearings, replace entire wiper mechanism or replace the wiper motor. It is not very simply, but it works. Heed of the windscreen !!! Refit all in reverse order.
WIPER ARM LINKAGE COULD BE BINDING.REMOVE WIPER ARM TO SEE IF WIPER MOTOR OPERATE SLOWLY.IF YES CHECK TO MAKE SURE WIPER MOTOR GETTING GOOD GROUND CONNECTIONS BY CHECKING MOVING WIRES .IF WIPER MOTOR SPEEDS UP YOU HAVE GROUND WIRE PROBLEM. IF WIPER MOTOR REMAIN SLOW GROUND WIRES CHECK OUT OKAY.REPLACE WIPER MOTOR.IF WIPER MOTOR RUN FAST NORMAL SPEED AFTER DISCONNECTING WIPER ARM.WIPER ARM LINKAGES IS BINDING OR NEED SOME LUBRICATION TRY WD40 SEE WHAT HAPPENS.LUBRICATION DONT HELP WIPER LINKAGE COULD BE DAMAGED.
You will need to pull the wiper arm off the shaft. The gears on the shafts are most likely worn out. Have you tried to use the wipers when they where stuck or frozen down? You can buy a tube of JB weld or even better yet JB Underwater Weld. Put a good amount on both shafts and replace wiper arms and secure them down. Wait a couple days at LEAST before using wipers again to ensure that the weld product holds and cures.
Hello,my friend's car has also this problem but it solved. When he turned the wiper on nothing has happened. Problem was the wiper motor has stucked. We had to took out all the wiper's mechanic(3 screws) and disassemble it.One of the bronze sleeve was very rusty and after that is has been broken. Now it works perfectly with one sleeve.:-D
