Question about 1996 Mercury Mystique
My son has a 1996 Mercury Mystique that will not move while in (D) drive at a stop light, but if he starts in drive (D1) then shifts to (D2) and at around 3400 rpm shifts the transmission Into (D) it will continue in that gear until he comes to another stop. I know he cannot continue driving the car like this, so any help will be appreciated.
Plugged valve body, not allowing to shift down automatically try putting trans-x in the transmission

Shift solenoids need to be replaced. I have been researching this myself.

That happened once in a Datsun pick up I had. A friend took the boot off of the gearshift and found something had come loose and pushed it back into place.
