79 chevy fulltime will shift out but wont come out.? of four wheel

on those model of trucks you have to back up 15 to 20 feet sometimes to properly engage or disengage the four wheel drive if that dose not work the try manually shifting the transfer case on the upper passenger side sometimes the linkages slip or just stretch from years of use,and can usually be adjusted. Also make sure your mounts are all in good shape as well as the engine mounts, bad mounts cause binding and will also cause you the same kind of problems.

Two or Four wheel drive? Either way there are a lot of small parts and special tools required, best left to a professional.
