Tramission problem(od lights staying on)

OD'd on OD? sigh.
OD is a tranny function. (top gear, overdriven ratio)
the lamp can also show failures.... (old cars, where is this lamp>?)
all this is in the operators guide, in the glove box.
read the lamp and its modes of operation. and warnings.

like transmission overheated, etc.?
OD operation is complex. 4s or 5speed.
it can drop out with too cold and engine, or in 4wd.

Is the Check Engine lamp glowing , running? if yes scan it.
as this lamp also reports transmission errors. pg 176.
is your car 2wd or 4wd? ?

advice: What is the CEL doing and are all fuses good.
1: this car uses, CAN buss, a car digital network.
it can have errors, and if the OD function is acting up
the book says, do the CAN diagnostics to see if there are errors
from the Display system called CLuster, and the BCM/PCM or tranny functions.
there are 2 tranmissions ( RFE or NAG?)and 3 engines and diff, 2wd/4wd systems options. non of which were stated.
nor exactly where this light is? they never mention it in the opr guide.

well check engine light is most likely a sensor and needs to be scanned and that could caose the overdrive problem

It should not be lit when the togle button is off. If you press it again does the light stay on?
It could be an issue with the dash light itself or the OD switch may not be working.

you put it right in were you check it with dipstick in the long tube

My Mazda MPV 1997 OD light flashes and engine light is on

sounds like your third and forth clutches are burnt up. one set of clutches powers both gears. transmission will most likely need to be overhauled

this is the first sign your tranny is shot or try changing the filter if your tranny filter is clogged it will act the same as you are saying

Engine light stays on, low coolant light stays on , recently had a plastic housing replaced that was leaking, it was linked to thermostat, tranmission coolant,heater ect. Had the thermostat replaced also. Level of coolant is fine, does't overheat anymore, but now the starter wants to spin a couple of times and then it starts. The car has no rust, would like to hang on to it
