SOURCE: 1999 GMC Jimmy won't start.

firstly where is fuel pump relay as i have never seen a GMC jimmy sorry about that but have you ever seen a foden ?? well the first thing is to check the fuse,if fuse is ok which can be checked by looking at it as its transparent or a piece of wire with a light bulb .across the battery.to find the relay is easy if you dont know where it is,When this piece of americana decides to work just turn ignition on and listen for the click of relay ,then when it doesnt start listen for click again or rather an absence of a click, sounds more like a dodgy pump in the tank or the connections going to it.when it wont start try thumping the fuel tank with the ignition on and if it is a sticky pump you might hear it start then at least you will know where the fault is.Another fault that i have come across with relays is that where the relay is passing a heavy load then its possibe for the contacts to burn inside the relay. When this happens then if it is possible to seperate the relay cover and clean the contacts with a points file (remember them ) or a piece of fine emery paper if the cover breaks taking it apart then use a bit of black insulating tape to repair the cover.Thats assuming the pump is in the tank and not bolted to the chassis near the fuel tank but that design with external pump i havent seen on a europeon car for nearly 20yrs .

SOURCE: 2000 GMC Jimmy will not start

The oil presure switch does have some bearing on the problem but my suggestion is to change the coil. I had a the same problem with an astro van. I changed everything that you have described and it fixed the problem just for a little while and then all of a sudden did it again. I changed the coild and the cold start swithch and never had the problem again.

SOURCE: 2000 gmc jimmy wont start fuel pump comes on and cuts off...

the fuel pressure if leaking could cause this the regulator is located under the intake plenum but you should smell gas .if you dont then most likely the pump is bad ,the pump will come on for 2 seconds when the key is on then go off it will not stay on with just the key on only when you crank it will it .so have your fuel pressure checked with a gauge.

SOURCE: 1999 GMC Suburban Wont Turn Over

It sounds like you have a security problem, I had the same thing it would fire and run for half of a second and then that was it if anything at all. Had the security system rebooted, now it starts and runs fine.

WONT START HAS A NEW FUEL PUMP BATTERY IS GOOD

Is there spark coming from plugs . Electronic ignition? Check fuse box for blown fuses .
Pull a wire out from spark plug and place it near the plug. Start engine while someone else watches if there is spark going ( do not handle wire when doing this ) if new pump it has to be primed before use .

I have a 2000 gmc Jimmy that will turn over but won't stay started what is the problem?

Does the check engine light come on? If so you can get a code scanner to read it and see what the codes are. This could be a lot of things: Fuel pump, engine sensors etc.

2000 gmc jimmy stalled while accererating and will not start

Sounds like the fuel pump failed. Have someone stand by the key while you go to the gas tank and take off the cap. Put your ear to the tank filler tube and have them turn on the key. You should hear a hum for about 2 seconds and then goes quite. If you don't hear anything the fuel pump stopped working. Could be a: fuse, relay, or bad pump. If you hear the sound then go under the hood and find the fuel rail service valve. It will be on the fuel rail, it looks like the air stem that is on your tires. It should have a cap on it remove the cap and press in on the valve it should shoot out gas, If it just trickles or no gas then you could have a plugged filter.

93 Jimmy with 4.3 vortec, Won't start, no spark. Changed cap, rotor, coil and ignition module. What would be the problem.

Have you checked your fuel pressure? Can you hear your fuel pump buzzing. Remove your gas cap and have a helper turn the key to the run position while you have your ear close to the open tank. If you don't hear anything you have a fuel related issue. Even if you hear the pump buzzing you need to check the fuel pressure as it may not be making enough pressure. If no buzz you may have a bad fuel pump, pump relay, or wiring problem to the pump. That is where I would start.

We own a 2000 GMC Jimmy, and it won't start. It got repoed in January or Feb and we got it back with a GPS locater on it. Ever since the car lot put the locater on it, it kind of run weird after that. Now...

If the vehicle doesnt turn over make sure the battery is fully charged. If charged and still doesnt turn,(if the vehicle has a security system) check and make sure the starter kill feature is disabled (check vallet switch). If it cranks and doesnt start to check the fuel pump you can have someone turn the key to the on position while you put your ear close to the fuel tank to see if you can hear the pump (you should hear a buzzing sound for 5seconds after the key is turned to the on position). This is a tuff call. You need to find out what the lot did when they put the GPS on the vehicle

Rolling over and it fires but wont stay running

If you are getting "fire at the plugs", then it is probably a fuel delivery problem. It is very common for the fuel pump to fail in these vehicles, particularly if the truck is run below 1/4 tank of fuel very long. Slide under the truck at the tank and have someone turn on the key. if you don't hear a humming noise then your pump is not running. Check fuses, fuel pump relay, and sending terminals for bad connections. Replace the pump assembly.

MOST LIKELY THE FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED, WHEN U TURN THE KEY TO RUN POSITION DO U HEAR A HUMMING NOISE FROM THE FUEL TANK? THIS NOISE WILL STOP IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS, U CAN HEAR IT BETTER BY TAKING OFF THE GAS CAP AND LISTENING THERE, IF U HEAR NOTHING THEN THE PUMP WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

2000 gmc jimmy won't start

Could be your fuel pump. These vehicles are known for fuel pumps couing out. Sometimes you can hit the bottom of the fuel tank and get the pump to work for a limited time. Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail to see if your pump is working. If no pressure at the fuel rail then you will probably be looking at a new fuel pump. If you have pressure and the pump is working then it could be a list of other things. Try also listening for the sound of the pump priming when you first turn the key on. Should be able to hear it for the first few seconds. Hope this helps. Good luck and let me know.
