Question about 2001 Nissan Altima

Hummming coming from under the hood.

Hello all,

I have been on this site before and you guys and gals are amazing so this may be a good one for you. This is very interesting....

I have a 97 nissan altima with 175,000 miles. She is running great no smoke not miss no nothing but here is the problem: When i started up the car last week i heard a humming noise. This noise will stay in sync of the cars RPMs if i rev it it will rev right with it. I know its comming from under the hood but where im not sure???
I replaced the battery since it was old so i know that cant be it, i had the alternator tested and all is good. The belts are in good shape. i did notice that i was a little low on power steering fluid i topped it off but still have the same noise. I have let 2 different mechanics if you will lisen to it and one says that its probley the bering in a pully and the other thinks pully in the motor running the timming chain. Now that to me is real bad news. So far i havent found a shop that i can trust yet so i guess that why im comming to you and trying to do most of this myself.

Let me know what your opions are and what i need to do cause u have earned my trust.
Just some insight on last time i came to u guys imy radiator had blown a hole in it and come to find out the water temp sensor was bad. Replaced and all was good.

Look foward to your comments,
Thanks again,
Joe North

Using a stethoscope or a long rod, you'll be able to pinpoint the noise exactly.( BE CAREFUL!)..accordianman

Hello: Try lubricating the latch assembly under the hood when you have the hood open. WD-40 works good or any type light oil.

2002 cadillac deville where's the fuse box in the car

Hello jayv.

There are 2 in the 2002 Deville.

This one in the diagram below under the hood.

And this one under the rear seat on the right side.

Amazing where they put things on cars now.
You will also find the battery under the rear seat. It may be a good time to check the terminals for corrosion while you are checking the fuses.
If you need further help with this, please ask me here, be glad to help.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Hello
I would check the fuel pump relay
it is,,Right behind the battery under the hood. Pull off the black cover with two turn clips and it should be the second relay if you're looking at the car.

There are 2 diodes in the fuse box under the hood, there is a spare diode in the interior fuse box. Take that diode and try to swap it with one of the 2 under the hood. Guaranteed one of the diodes under the hood is blown. Do not listen to the other guys advice, he is an idiot!

Need your help again .....

hello,

another bearing to look at would be the pulley bearing of the compressor or the tensioner or belt adjuster. these two bearings ( if you have them in your car) are sources of noises which are sync with car's rev.

tnx again 4 using Fixya,

02 Blazer. Heater worked intermitly.. now not at all

The blower lives under the dash on the pass side Look for 12v on the large purple wire with the heater on..also run 12v to the blower to confirm it works. If no 12v check the blower relay in the power dist center under the hood. Also the 30a fuse to it .....look for melting etc...tap on the relay...from this point you need some expertise. Ill help if you want
