Question about 1993 Chevrolet K1500

2 Answers

Heater I have a 93 chev 1500 pickup that the heater is not working like it should. The heat was working before the temperature outside fell below -20. Now, it is keeping my windows from fogging, but the hot air is actually quite cool and when i turn on the heat to warm myself up, there is no hot air blowing out to warm me up? What is wrong?

First you have to make sure there is colant in the radiater to heat up...if full of coolant, try replacing the thermostat....very easy and cheap try...then make sure no air in system after filing, warming up vehicle, and shutting off a few times to work air from system...if there is still no heat and truck is running at temp(Aprox 200 degree) you may have a blocked heater core, and this can be cleaned by backflushing heater core..take both small hoses off of engine and water pump and run a garded hose through it both ways....good luck..Lee

Is the engine temp reaching operating temp? if not its the thermostat. if it is reaching temp your heater core is likely plugged.
hope this helps.....Good luck!

How do i change 92 chev luminas heater core

It is probably not the heater core do to most times when the heater core goes bad it stars putting water into the interior of the car. It may be the heater core supply valve or the blend door actuator is not working. Try warming the Vehicle, then carefully feel the heater hoses, are they both hot? If one is cooler than the other, You need to flush the core, or do a replacement job on the heater core. Also if the system has a heat control valve on the heater hose, make sure it is working! Also check the thermostat, and the temperature blend door, thats under the dash, in the heater plenum. You can flush this yourself, buy the prestone flush kit and install the tee in the heater return line. Disconnect the heater hose at the waterpump, clamp the hose in back of the tee you installed and back flush till it runs clear.20 mins or so.

are you saying that the heater motor e.g. the fan is not working for there is no warmth coming from the heater.A lot of engines do not generate enough heat to work the heater at such a low temperature

In cold weather my heating doesn't blow hot air

When your engine thermostat has failed or is sticking open, the engine fluid isn't able to reach a temperature that lets your heater core get hot enough to produce worthwhile heat to blow into the passenger's compartment. It is also not good for your engine to run below design temperature.
If you have a dashboard temp gauge, if your thermostat is stuck open, that gauge will probably stay in the cold area.
I would think that that is the problem, and I would have the thermostat changed (not a very difficult or expensive job).
Hope this helps you.

Heater blows but no heat in my 2003 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 4.7L engine. what can this be? its a 2003.

If your engine reaches normal operating temperature then it sounds like the heater valve is not operating. Find the valve on the engine firewall passenger side and manually open the valve. Find it by following the 3/4 inch heater hose to the firewall where it is connected to the valve. Most likely the cable ( or vaccum hose)from the temperature dial to the valve needs replacing.

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 pickup w. hwat issues

is this a problem w/ the interior vents? maybe stuck venting in outside air rather than from the heater box? did the heat only stop working after the radiator/hose install? if so, then you probably have a big air pocket stuck in the heater core.

93 chev 1500 won,t start

typical fuel pump issue.. Usually around $600 to have it done. The tech would check for pressure and then test the ground and the power souce for a voltage drop. If all this is not done to verify you need a 600 dollar pmp you cold be just throwing parts at it as you go.
