Question about 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

Automatic locks are draining battery, 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sup

I've had this problem once already, but thought it was just a dying battery. My automatic locks sometimes work, but most of the time they don't. My oldsmobile also automatically locks the doors when I put the car into drive, so I'm not sure if this is part of the problem too.

I have a brand new battery and replaced the alternator about 2 years ago. I went to start my car this morning, and it was completely dead. I then hooked it up to jump it, but all I heard was constant clicking noise when I tried to turn the key over. Also, the automatic locks motors on the doors all started running once i hooked up the jumper cables. This is why I think it's an issue with the automatic locks.

How do disable the automatic locks? I was hoping to completely remove any connection the automatic locks have to the battery. Which fuse is it and is this fuse used for anything else?

thanks.

Got ya. The problem is that I'm not sure which fuse it is. I can't find my owners manual and there's two different fuse boxes. There's one under the hood that has labels for fog lights, ABS, and exterior lights. The one inside my glove box doesn't have anything to label which is used for what.

Pull fuse to locks and see if that solves the problem first, does the battery drain over night, could be a bad voltage regulator in alternator.

Sounds like a RFID issue. Your key most likely has a chip inside of it. Most of the time people will have multiple keys on their key chain that can cause interference with the receiver in your steering column. Try using the one ignition key to start.

maybe the wire is severed where the door (drver dr) pivots. thats what was wrong with mine. there is a rubber boot with crinkles in it that hold all the wires together. you can also try replacing the switch board that controls the wndws on the drvr dr. hope that helps.

Yes you can just unscrew the bulb and there will be no problems. If it is a screw in type just unscrew it and if it is a bayonet type push in and twist it to get it out.

the most common problem next is the crank sensor. use a heat light to warm up the sensor to see if it is that. by using a heat light you can narrow down what part has the temperature glitch. Don't forget to try the engine computer.

Dear sir i am considering that you have fix both +ve and -ve terminal at Right place, if not then place it proper and some fuse may blown replace that fuse. OR
There is possibility of while replacing the battery you may miss out any wire or connector to place it back with Battery terminal thanks.

Have a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra SL 4dr. VIN# 2G3AM5IN8K240

have you checked the glove box light? another way to tell where your short may be is to hook a voltage meter to the battery and notice a drain on the battery with the key off! then start pulling fuses to see when the drain stops and that will narrow down the possibilities of the problem... the drain should be easily located if its killing the battery overnight... help this helps

I just replaced the alternater and battery on my car and it is still draining the battery and dieing

These cars have a fusible link in the large guaged wire off the back of the alternator these are known for burning out. When these go the alternator can charge but it does not go back to the battery. Check for this at the back of the alternator and at the starter.
