Question about 2004 Saab 9-3
Could some give me advice on 1986 9000 Turbo 5 speed: Mileage at 160,000 miles. Replace clutch at 156.,0000 I could not engage the clutch to go from first to second, all the other gears work fine on the freewayBut when I got home the transmission shifter will not engage in any gear..Could I have blown a transmission or just a loose linkage Where do I look to solve the problem. I would appreciate if you guide me in the right direction. Bob 1989 saabturbo 900...thought it could be tranny, but having doubts because of how i lost gears all at one time..but when i have my car on and idleing,i change from 1st to second or any gear i can feel the shift but car still wont shift into gear....could this problem be my linkage?checked fluid and it look fresh and fine...thought it could be drive shaft axle..but my mind tells me i had no symtoms for that... saab 93 54plate cant get 1st or 2nd gear the gear stick wont even go over to where the gears should be....... any ideas?
maybe has a broken linkage or the bolt came lose.
Check if you can engage hall the gears pushing the linkage by hand, engine ranning and same one pressing the clutch!that way you can have same idea wath is wrong?!

Usually this is a linkage problem, and most often the rubber lined coupling between two rods in the linkage system. This fails as the rubber ages, and when it does you are unable to select some or all gears, and might be stuck in one gear!
Not too difficult to re and re, and part is available from Saab dealer at reasonable cost.
Coupling may be located inside the car, under the console, ahead of the gear lever housing, or on the other side of the firewall
