If you are losing ATF then the steering rack will be leaking at one of the ends. Look under the car for puddles of the stuff. The gators will be oily. Replace the rack, do not get it repaired.

The check engine light is another story. You will need to get the codes pulled.

I have a 1994 850 volvo that wont start. I drove it for a short time went home turned it off to grab my cup of coffee came out ten min later only a click of the ignition. The fuel pump works, starter is...

check your battery terminal connections for corrosion and good contact your lights can still work but the starter draws alot of amps so a good connection is critical, also see if your lights dim out while trying to start it might just be the battery is not strong enough to work the starter but strong enough to work the lights

Hi, I have a 1996 Volvo wagon 850 turbo. I just bought it and when you hold the rpm's at 3 and a half it was blowing out smoke after about 600 miles it stoped smelling like burning oil and doesn't blow out any smoke. But I use a court of oil in about every 150 miles. What could this be?
Thank's Jodie

The two struts that hold it have likely failed, and will need to be replaced, Check a local auto parts outlet before going to the dealer.
