Your water pump is in the timing case and requires you to take timing case, timring belt, motor mount and water pump off, then you have to put all back on but you will need to make sure you reset the timing before starting the engine

Yes, I think that would be possible. Plates would then have the wrong angles and could contact the rotors. Pull a wheel off for inspection. You should be able to see if the backing plates are correct or not, or what the problem is.
Good luck.

1986 accord when shifting, giving gas or less gas power shifts?

Jack car up. Hold the front wheel with both hands in the 3 and 9 poistion. Try and rock it towards you and away. If it is easy to move the wheel bearings need replaced.

Take it to an alignment garage and get the tracking/alignment sorted. Are the inner edges of the tires worn?

Push down on the wing hard to compress the suspension and release, if one side returns slowly, new shock or spring is needed. See if you can spot any cracked springs too.

1992 honda accord dx runs but does not seem to circulate water. I replaced the thermostat and filled the radiator and water tank. Any suggestions?

Hello there:
If the waTEKR IS NOT CIRCULATING THEN I WOULD CHECK THE WATER PUMP CAUSE IF THIS IS NOT WORKING THE WATER WILL NOT CIRCULATE ALSO YOU CAN ALSO FLUSH THE ENTIRE RADIATOR CAUSE THEY WILL GET CLOGGED AND THIS WILL RESULT IN A NON CIRCULATING CONDITION OK?
HOPE THIS HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL FOR YOU
BEST REGARDS MICHAEL

In order to replace the water pump you would have to do the timing belt. Don't know if you are aware of how involved and the kill level it requires.

Leak from the water pump

  • first of all you are probably going to need a torque wrench for the crank shaft pulley bolt it has 225lbs.of torque or more.I just did one on my 1991 honda accord dx .you have to take off a/c belt ,alternator etc. on the crank pulley.(I took it to a shop and they heated the 3/4 in. bolt and used torque wrench. I broke a half inch breaker bar trying to get it offf) next use puller to take off crankshaft pulley.support motor and remove motor mount bracket. take off upper and lower timing belt covers.take off timing belt and other belt using the tensioners.take off and replace water pump CHECK ALL TIMING MARKS with #1 piston@TDC. There are about 6.

Power steering fluid leek on 89 honda accord

Should not be too hard. I have not done one on an 1986 model but I have on a 1983. The principle will be the same.
  • You need to drain the fluid.
  • Disconnect all the pump hoses.
  • Release the pump pivot and adjustment bolts and remove the pump from the vehicle.
Replacement is the reversal of the removal operation.
  • Tighten all the bolts.
  • Adjust the drive belt tension.
  • Fill and bleed the system.
Following the above procedure should get the job done. Take your time doing the job and double check your work at the end of the job. Check for any fluid leeks from the system.

1986 Honda Accord Dx keeps dying out.

Have you checked you plug wires?? I would also check your idle speed that can cause the car to die. If it is carb. then it may need to get a choke replaced.
