Question about 1995 Buick Roadmaster

1 Answer

Car cranks, but hesitates to start after sitting for over 24hrs

I have a 95 Buick Roadmaster Limited. Just the vehicle starting acting up. It will crank, but wouldn't start. Check it 24hrs latter and it started just fine. After it started no problem for 2 weeks. Every now and then it does it again. Recently I can get it started but it is not pretty. Turn the key and it cranks but doesn't start. If I keep trying when I left go of the key it seems to try to start but it just seems to backfire. Try it again a few more times and it finally starts and runs fine. Will run fine from 1 to 3 weeks then it happens again and runs fine for another 1 to 3 weeks. It has had the distributer & cap replaced. waterpump and a few other items have been replaced. I don't know if it is a failing fuel pump? Clogged fuel filter? bad injector(s)? All I know is it is getting annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

'99 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Got a new fuel pump, but the problem persists. Car hesitates to start. The engine sounds like it is trying, but that it just won't catch. Has a two year remanufactured engine as well.

Tune ups are always a good place to start , including air, fuel, plugs and for the extra 5 bucks a PCV valve. If these havn't been done in the last year at least might want to start there. If that doesnt make any difference please post again and we will look at something else!

I just bought a 95 buick roadmaster limited dule exhaust with 137k for 2300 did I get a good deal

I would say that any car in this year range and milage for $2300.00 would be a good deal as long as the engine and transmission are in good working order.

My 95 roadmaster sometimes doesn't start? It acts like its not getting a spark.Other times it starts right up?It seems to be worse when it's damp out. But even in the winter ?

Car could have a hairline crack that is leaking spark and grounding out and be part time at the same time. Thus the problem,,,when its damp out this will escalate the problem. Change out your coil packs; This is a common problem with older cars .High miles ?

Cannot locate fuel filter on my 96' Buick Roadmaster Limited.Would like to see a diagram of engine to find it?

Engine diagram will not help you, its located on the left (drivers) frame rail. Like under where the left rear passenger sits.

95 Buick Roadmaster has been sitting for a year.It tries to start while cranking but won't run. What should I check?

You need to identify if the problem is fuel or spark. Try pumping the gas a few times while cranking. It's possible that since it has sat for so long, the vaccum has been broken and there's air in the fuel line. If you're able to start it after pumping the gas, you've solved the problem, if not, you've likely ruled out the fuel problem and identified it as being spark. In that case, try pulling the wires and check the plugs for rust or other debris. If they're dirty, wipe them off or if they're really in bad shape, replace them.

Last week, had same problem 1994 buick roadmaster car cranks, (turns over)& no start changed the fuel filter, car turned over & ran fine for 1 week, now same problem?? can someone help me??

Hi,
I might suggest pouring a fuel additive in your tank. Possibly you have some condensation/bad gas. Pour it in and let it sit overnight. See if it helps... it won't hurt.
Good luck!

2002 Buick Century 3.1L V6 hesitates to start

With everything you have done the only thing left is the MAF or Map sensor . This is what tells the computer the altitude and air density to know how to deliver fuel.. If its lying to the computer you will have drivability problems. A scanner will show this data.

Car will not start

If the starter is good, a bad ignition module or failed fuel pump will produce similar symptoms, i.e. no cranking, nothing happening when you turn the key. Ignition module sits under the distributor cap and is about the size and shape of a cassette tape with 2 female plugs and one male plug. Quick way to check the fuel pump is to put the car in a quiet place like inside the garage. Find a quiet friend to sit behind the wheel and turn the key so the dash lights come on, DO NOT TURN THE KEY FULLY LIKE YOU'RE TRYING TO START. You get down on the ground and listen near the gas tank for the quiet hum of the fuel pump that tells you it is working.

After i start my 95 jeep grand cherokee limited

crank or camshaft sensor will cause this, a bad crank sensor will cause it not to start or start hard. it controls timing and sends info to pcm for proper fuel mixture and spark at the right time.
