Question about 1996 Audi A4

1996 A-4 Intermitent Heater Problem

Though the digital indicator shows that the fan is running and changing speeds in automatic or manual modes, I do not hear the fan running and there is no air coming from the vents. Sometimes if I turn off the ignition for 30 minutes or so it will work again...or if I turn the heater off and back on it will work fine.
This first occured once a few months ago. On my way to the Audi dealer the heater began to work just fine. Now that we are getting our first snowfall of the year today it's happening again.
FRUSTRATING!

Before you change the switch, do you have high speed only on your fan? If so you probably need a fan speed relay instead

Possible solution is to check the fan speed switch. These go bad and won't change the speed/ or function in the lower speeds.

I have a 1996 blazer 4x4. The heater fan is making a growling noise no matter what speed it is running at or which position the vents are at... i.e. defrost, floor, etc. I believe the resistors are burnt...

well the growling noise is more than likely a worn bearing in the blower motor it would be better to replace the whole motor, and on the fan speeds the blower motor resistor is the cheaper solution to take and more likely however if the resistor doesnt fix it then look at the control unit in the dash as the problem but like i said more than likely the resistor will fix the problem

Automat Gear does not shift in 40MPH

If all the gears including Reverse and Neutral show up in there proper place on the shift indicator your problem is either the linkage or the transmission. If your shift indicator is not lining up correctly you are probably putting the car in Second instead of Drive although Drive is showing. See if you can find neutral and go down 1 click regardless what it shows. Then try it. If that solves it, the little needle slipped and it is a simple adjustment to reset it.
