Question about 1993 Nissan Pickup

Oil burning at idol

1993 nissan p.u., twd, 2.4. It seems that rather suddenly my truck has began to burn oil at idol. If I idol for 30 seconds or more i see a lot of blue smoke when i take off. I have never hot rodded my truck . I make regular oil changes but because it has continued to run great for 250,000 miles I have only changed plugs on occasion and the air filter once or twice. Until lately this truck has preformed just great. never a problem. I have noticed that on hwy trips it burns about one quart in 1000 miles . I see no indication of oil being forced out off the dip stick.

Any suggestions! Paul

You have got valve stem clearance or valve stem seal issues You can change the seals yourself with a few special tools and a manual. The stems are another story. They require machine shop equipment and removal of the head/heads.I would try the seals first. A four cylinder would take an average handy guy about 4 hours.

My 1995 nissan pickup is ticking and smoking from exhaust. Seems that oil is coming out of exhaust. 4cyl. 5-speed. 160k

if its burning oil then you could have a pcv valve problem(plugged) and changing it could fix it.the other things are bad rings, bad valve guides or valve seals.it could also be a cracked head or a bad head gasket leak by the oil drain passages and combustion chamber drawing in oil and burning.the ticking noise is either to thin of oil(dirty) by not changing it frequently low oil level or worn engine components that will need repair.

The engine light in my car came on about 2 and a half weeks ago. I brought it to the mechanic for a diagnostic test and they said that my catalytic converter needs to be replaced. My engine has been...

Your car does in fact need a new catalytic converter. And it should also not burn a drop of oil. It can burn oil as it seeps past leaking intake valves and piston rings.

I highly recommend you do not even start the engine again until the exhaust and intake valves have been inspected and replaced as needed, it has a new catalytic converter and a complete tune up.

Seems like my car has oil burning, need new Manifold. I would like to know why my car burning this much oil; is there a Manufature recall on these two items?

If there is blue smoke coming out the tail pipe it is burning oil. If there is not blue smoke then it's not burning it would be leaking. And have you checked the oil level? Are you adding oil? if it has smoke in the engine compartment then it could be a intake manifold seal but need more information to help you.

1993 mazda 626 LX 2.0L. Smelled burning smell for about 10 seconds, then overheating began. No heat coming from heater, and Charge light; all happen at same time. Also, rear light came on too. Thought it...

Sounds like you have burned a belt off the pulley for the alternator and water pump. Dont drive the car until you have verified the belt is intact and the water pump is turning. Something had to have caused it if it did, I would suspect water pump, alternator, or air conditioning compressor has siezed if your car is equipped with it.

Replaced headlight with a new one and headlight

If the headlamp burned out it would be more than likely that there is a blown fuse , there is a fuse each for the high and low beams.

Flahing service engine light soon and engine began shaking

Yep 20 seconds on a machine turning 650 rpms is low on oil wil destroy the bearings in the pistons and crankshaft. Mechanics refer to the red check engine light as the idot light, because by that time it's to late the car ran low on oil and damaged the engine.Try putting some SPT oil treatment in and see if it will fix it temporally otherwise you may be looking for a engine overhaul. If the yellow check engine light is flashings you may have burned the rings up on the pistons and it is now burning oil, or more oil causeing it to throw a code for the 02 sensor. Good luck

The bolts that hold on the valve covers may be loose, causing it to leak a little and burning oil. It happened to me once before. I tightened them up and no more problems. It may also possibly be that the valve cover gasket needs replacing

2000 Subaru Impreza idling and accelerating poorly, burning smell

Try getting the fuel injectors cleaned. clean the mass air flow sensor .
------------------- also
is typically caused by insufficient lubrication to the camshaft synchronizer, which is the short drive assembly installed where earlier engines had a distributor. Once they begin to squeak, the bushing is shot, and the synchronizer must be rebuilt or replaced. They are available new, new aftermarket, and remanufactured. In extreme cases, looseness of the worn shaft will allow the rotating cam to destroy the cam sensor, which at a minimum will activate the "check engine" light and degrade engine performance, but more likely will result in failure of the engine to run. ---------------- also ---
What color is the smoke? Black - running rich. Bluish - buring oil. White - burning coolant.
