99 explorer ac blowing out defrost vents

If the air flow cannot be controlled from vent/defrost/floor you may have a blend door issue. This is an electric motor that operates a door in the heating system to control airflow. There are usually 3 motors controlling airflow direction,heat and recirculation. The Ac not blowing cold may also be another problem. If the AC is operational, the compressor will be engaged and the Ac low pressure line under the hood will bw cold. If this is all ok then a blend door issue should be suspected

the heater vacuum motor and lines needs to be checked.Also get the blend door checked.

The most common cause is a bad blend door actuator which controls air flow throughout the cabin. When air flow only flows from 1 section (either floor, vent, or defrost) it's an indication that the blend door actuator is either stuck or broken.

Try grounding the LOW PRESSURE A/C SWITCH by the compressor, while trying to recharge. This will energize the compressor. Hope this helps...

on my 99 devillle concours cold air blows from left and back vents but hot air blows from right vents

that switch controls a vacuum operated door that lets a/c or heat thru.when accelerating,the vacuum in the engine changes so it sound like a vacuum issue.take apart the center stack and there is a vacuum actuator in there connected to the flap door .i have seen those have issues with the metal tab broken away from the plastic that moves it.is the a/c piping cold under the hood where it goes into the heater a/c assembly?the compressor should be cycling on and off and the pressure tested.

where does the air blow out at? ie floor, vent , defrost. do you hear any unusual noise when changing from hot to cold? ie a clicking noise

check your air diverter doors, sounds like the door for heat is open, when a/c is selected the doors should move and close the heater off. the heater will over power the a/c. the door controller is located on the environmental station under the dash neat to the floor. the control is electronic and probably not functioning

You have a vacuum leak. The default postion(no vacuum) is defrost and heat. Check the small black vacuum line coming out of the firewall on the right side near the ac evap and heater core. Trace it back to intake and make sure it has vacuum there and there are no leaks. You should also see a vauum canister when u trace it back,this is the reserve so u have enough vacuum to keep it from changing from floor to def when accelerating.
