Question about 1995 Mazda MPV

Rod knock, water pump leak, clicks but wont turn over

While the van is in drive the rod knocks while driving around, we think the water pump is broken; it spits out coolant right behind belts, when i try to start the car; it clicks but won't turn over, the windows roll down slowly and the lights turn on but the car won't start.

A noisy water pump will eventually cause problems. Before it shattes insde the cooling system, causes overheatinig,& other problems, get rid of it.It may have to do with the "no start" but as for the slow windows and other issues that sounds like battery or ignition. One step at a time.

Engine lock up

You lost oil pressure, either due to oil loss or oil pump failure. When this happens the crankshaft bearings lose lubrication, heat up, expand, and freeze, or seize the engine. This is called lockup. The Kia folks lied to you about the safety of driving in this condition, or they didn't understand your description of it. Loud knocking inside the engine calls for immediate shutdown to avoid catastrophic damage. You are now looking at at least and engine rebuild, if not a full replacement.

Why is engine knocking?

the serpentine belt is an accessory drive belt --a/c --alternator--power steering--water pump--etc it does not have affect on timing ---if you have an engine knock while running that would more than likely be a "rod knock" "piston knock" from a burnt main bearing, piston wrist pin ,damaged rod --if your timing was off poor running ,misfire,no start ,banging in upper engine valves hitting piston,

I think i have a rod knock. it stalled out when i was driving and there was water over the road but i was told the water pump culd make te same noise also. please email me back

Check the oil see if there is water in it, never really heard a knocking water pump how ever anything is possible. You can use a wooden broom stick to touch to different engine components to try and isolate the noise location. You can't get that stick to the water pump because of the belt I'm sure be very careful.

2004 explorer died while driving then won't start and sounds horrible shaking in engine. All lights and electric working. Little wrench light came on.

I dont know what the horibile shaking you are describing they seem to ussually just loose a fuel pump or a ignition module. If its a knock or grind it wont help you. if its metalic its a rod or timing chain. a rod or piston knocks and or rattles around timing chain grinds and or motor spins faster than ussual. Good Luck

2007 dodge grandcaravan knocking noise

If your engine has a rod knock the engine has to be rebuilt or replaced rebuilt is about $2000 to $3000 dollars and a new motor even more.It is unusal for a rod to be out around 60,000 miles unless it was ran real hard or run out of oil or way low on oil.

Would there be a knocking in the motor and would my van be sluggish when stopped if there was something wrong with the water pump?

if something wrong with water pump vehicle can and will overheat which can cause minor to extreme motor damage such as blown head gasket --warped heads--****rod knock****seized engine loud knocking usually means lower end damage to engine which can be from engine rebuild to engine replacement

Noking

a knock from the bottom of the motor is a big end bearing STOP DRIVING, new engine or rebuild required, a knock from the rear of the engine could be loose pressure plate on clutch assembly, that is if it is a manual, STOP DRIVING. a rattle from top end is lifters or rockers but you say its a knock so probably not it. one test to do, remove all drive belts to water pump etc and start if the knocking is still apparent then it is internal and time to consider trade in, rebuild or new engine.
