2006 KIA Optima EX Passenger Power Seat won't adjust back

Passenger Seat. Will adjust forward. Will not adjust backward

  • Anonymous Mar 13, 2014

I powered the front passenger's seat all the way forward to transport furniture, now it won't power backwards. Works up & down, not backwards. Could it need lubrication on the track or screw drive?

Seat motor is no good and needs replaced if switch is working in each position

  • Anonymous Jul 30, 2012

The seat motor works in the forward motion. Returning the seat in the back position doesn't work. I'm thinking the switch might be bad.

pull switch and test or replace

SOURCE: Engine Check Light - 2006 KIA Optima

Hi

Before you turn out the light you should have a code read carried out just to make sure nothing sinister is going on with the management system.

If the car is running ok then the code will probably either pertian to the O2 sensor, the EVAP system, or a drop in catalytic efficiency, but this isn't set in stone, just the most popular scenarios.

Very best regards

Geordie

SOURCE: I have a 2006 Kia Sadona, electric front seats.

yes, usual you will find coins or something lodged in the treaded bar on the seat motor, if not water damage can corrode the bar, check the bar as it goes in and out. ( rate me )

2009 impala driver side power seat won't move up/down, makes whirring sound when attempted. Moves forward backward. Passenger seat works properly.

Before you do any of the expensive things disconnect and reconnect the wiring to the seat I had the same exact problem with my 2009 Chevy Impala and was ready to take it to the dealer when I disconnected the power cables to it and reconnected them I found that one of the Harnesses was loose and the problem was solved

Pull the door panel and find the cause, it can be a faulty lock motor or the linkage rod has come off due to a broken retainer clip.

Automatic driver seat broken, how to fix/cost

The back and foward movement uses the same motor. So if it moves one way but not the other it's most likely the switch. Try to blow it out or clean it out. If pop or somthing spilled on it you will prob. need to pull switch out and take it apart to clean contacks inside.

2005 KIA Optima EX 8-way power seat problem

Hi there,

There are numbers of possible causes to your problem. There might be something causing the movable parts to stuck up. It could be the limit switch, or the motor itself. To test the motor, you can connect it directly to the battery then check if the motor runs smoothly. Then reverse the connection and observe if it reverse smoothly. If the motor is OK, then your problem is with the switch...
