Cooling fans

replace ur battery or alternator , the difference in the fan on or off is it draws more current from the battery and ultimately the alternator

Both fans cool the motor. If you have the air conditioner on both fans will run because the cars cooling system will have to disapate more heat. If you have the air conditioner off only one fan will run because the heat load on the engine isn't as great.

There could be an obstruction in the heater core under the dashboard. It's also possible your thermostat is stuck in the open position. I'd start with changing the thermostat. As far as your A/C goes, either you have a slow refrigerant leak and whomever did the servicing didn't bother to check for leaks and/or the A/C compressor could be malfunctioning. Unfortunately A/C problems can be costly.

On my 1996 Accord (4cylinder), this was caused by a tube inside my radiator overflow tank dropping off into the tank - the radiator would have too little fluid in it, so the fans would run a LONG time after shutting the thing down. The tank is in the front left, a white cap with a black tube running out of the cap to the radiator. Underneath the cap there should be a foot or so of hose - this is what fell off of mine.
Hooked it back up, made sure enough fluid was in the radiator, and no more problem.
The dashboard coolant heat gage will show the high temperature, also.
