The only way I would know of to be sure is put them side by side if possible. Ford is good about parts interchanging across year models. If nothing else take pictures of key items like the mounting bracket and the plug ins and compare them. I would also measure the length from the mounting bracket down to the end of the steering shaft where it goes into the gear box.

Ford is usually pretty good about using same parts in things like that so i would think it would be fine

1990 ford bronco with fuel injected 302 idles and revs fine out of gear but has loss of power and pings when in gear and accelerating...

First thing to try would be different fuel. Use a fuel stabilizer and fill with good gas. see if that helps. Also, check the fuel pressure.

you can find out by the bolt pattern on the pan and ther should be a lable on the side of the tranny or it will be stamped in the metal.

The ignition switch is hanging up in my 1990 ford bronco,

I just had that same problem on a silverado. Yes, you have to replace the switch. Autozone has a tool you can use to remove the steering wheel. If you are not mechanically inclinced you can still do this. Removing the steering wheel sounds scary, or at least it did to me, but it wasnt bad at all.

E40d trany will not shift into higher gear but works manualy from 1-2 gear

sounds like a bad trans.
could be a shirft modualter which is vaccumm controlled.
check that before taking the trans out.

TRANSMISSION

The two wheel drive tranny won't work because it will be longer. The tranny that came out of the 4 wheel drive is shorter and the transfer case bolts to the rear of the tranny thus it has a shorter output shaft and a different spline to accommodate the transfer case. You need to find the correct tranny unless you want to change the internals from one tranny to the other.

Here is an amazing photo manual of the steering column tear-down to fix actuator on an 85 Bronco. It looks like a big job, though, which is unfortunate because the actuator on my 89 just snapped last week.
