How to install clock spring

Not recomended for untrained people as airbags can be very dangerous. That said you need to. 1) disconect battry 2) remove SRS (Airbag fuse) 3) remove shroud around steering colum 4) wait ten minutes. 5) remove horn pad (airbag houseing) usualy held in by tamper proof bits from back of steering wheel. 6) unplug wires to airbag & horn 7) undo steering wheel bolt & mark position of steering wheel to colum splines. 8) remove steering wheel with suitable puller (NOT a hammer) 9) unclip clock spring & replace 10) reverse procedure

On my second steering colum know and this one about the same problem with last one the steering wheel is real wobbly and the key switch gets stuck cant start or shut off wich ever both. is this a hard fix...

These steering columns are not all that hard to work on. You will need a steering wheel remover, then a lock plate remover (can rent for free at autozone), that is the piece under the steering wheel. Once you remove these pieces you can access the 3 torx screws that hold the upper part of the column tight to the bottom of the column. You will need to use loctite on these bolts!

LOOk on the top of the steering box in the middle there is a stud with a nut threaded onto it this is the adjustmemt for steering wheel play . Loosen the nut and take a stright head screw driver put it in the slot in the stud and turn it in . rembember you should have an inch or so free play in the steering wheel this will tighten it up then tighten the nut back down

I need a free 1987 Caravan steering column diagram so I can determine why it's wiggling and tighten it so it's safe. the steering wheel is very loose and where I need to get in to tighten whatever is loose...

Rather than take a crash course on how to rebuild a
steering colum. I recomend checking at the local
salvage yards for a used one. To repair your colum
properly you would have to remove it anyway. Also
the parts you would need are not so abundent for a
23 year old car. Hope this helps.

My power steering goes and comes, loud squeeling noise when I try to turn the wheel, gets worse when I steer goes away when steering is straight. Just started happening all of a sudden after bumpy ride...

this peice belongs to your power steering pulley its a plastic o\piece that over time brakes off you can either call your dealer and see if its covered by your warranty because its has to be replaced the pats that the plastic belongs on is top pulley you 'll notice powersteering wheel hard to steer and squeeling you must replace part or adjust it so its holding pulley tight itshas grooves in it 2 as a matter of fact if you keep using this pulley with broken plastic it could brake your belt

How do you take a ignition switch out of a 1977 chevy pickup with a non tilt steering column?

Pop the center out of the wheel, disconnect the horn. Remove the big nut. Use steering wheel puller to remove wheel.

DC horn wiring again, remove plastic cover. Depress lock plate and remove circlip. DO NOT LOOSE. remove lock plate. some have a small 3/16 allen screw holding key tumbler in others have a flat spring to depress.

If the actual switch (not lock cyl) is bad you will have to lower the colum from the dash Remove screws (4) holding te plastic piece under the colum2 bolts it will swing down and allow access to the ignition Sw, top side of the colum.

82 camaro z28 steering wheel moves up and down and side to side. how do i get to the bearing.

It sounds like you have a tilt wheel type steering colume. There are four bolts that get loose and just need to be tightened. Now here is the problem you have to go deep inside the colume just to do the job. it is about a good two hour job but it can be done at home. Tip..... use blue or red to bolts once you tighten them again.
