Question about 2001 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Ford Focus brake lights staying on all the time and third brake light not working.

Hello again Flapjack,

You were right. My problems were the result of "pinched wires" in the area of the unbilical between the car body and the rear hatch, causing an open circuit to the third brake light and a short circuit to the brake lights.

Problem was repaired at dealership and a cost of 2 hours diagnostic and repair labour. Approximately $200.oo Canadian dollars.

I'm good to go now.

Regards,

Al My brake lights would Stay On when my trunk is Closed completely and I turn on my head lights.. but if I leave it ajar.. they work properly.. What do I look for and how do I fix this..
Now If I close the trunk and My lights are OFF.. the brake lights will be off then mysteriously come on again by themselves so I have to keep my trunk unlatched at all times or run my battery dead

Cruise dont work and 3 brake light dont work

Hello carrollrll,

Fix the third brake light and that should resolve the cruise control issue.

The cruise control circuit that deactivates the cruise is through the third brake light.

2003 ford focus replaced brake switch lights will work in park but when i engage revs neut drive brake lights stay ?????

I have the same problem with my 03 Focus hatchback! Someone stoppedme yesterday to tell me that they looked like they were always on when i was driving but when i was in "Park" they worked... This particular driver was also driving a focus hatchback and asked me if my Cruise Control was working.. It actually was not and he told me the same thing happened with his focus. He said it was a wire attached to the back brake lights that had broken. I have not yet gotten it fixed. has anyone else had this problem?

The high mount stop lamp not working while two brake lights stay on while driving.

There will be a switch on the the brake pedal. Gently move it back and forth. If the lights stay on this will have to be replaced. Then replace the third brake light bulb.
