Hi: Chances are your vacuum actuator is the problem. It is located just below the battery tray. You probably will find it is not getting vacuum and thus is not engaging the front diff. The vacuum line has a hole in it, it could possibly be off by the actuator or the vacuum canister (located in the RF fender), or the actuator has a hole in the diaphragm. If the battery has ever been over charged or leaked the acid drips straight down causing the problem. Of 5 vehicles I have encountered the problem and solution has been the same, no vacuum. You could have a relay problem, (not likely) relays located by right passenger kick area,

Could be the servo on the front diff not activating. Could be a power prob or failed unit.

My 2003 chevy s-10 pickup has push button 4x4. 4 hi and 4 lo do not engage when button is pushed. Truck kinda jolts like its kicking in but front tires won't spin. Is this a cheap fix or something major?

It may be cheap... There is an actuator on your front diff that pushes a pin into your diff to engage the gears. Check the connections & the unit, U will need 2 people for this. 1 under the diff to watch/listen and the other to push the buttons

I have a 1995 Silverado 4x4. The 4WD will not engage. Someone told me it may be the actuator for the transfer case. When I try to shift into 4hi, nothing happens. When I try to shift into 4lo, it grinds...

I HAD A BLAZER WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS REPLACED THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR AND SOLVED PROBLEM. TRANSFER CASE MOTOR SHIFTS FROM HIGH TO LOW GEAR IN THE TRANSFER CASE AND TELLS THE FRONT ACTUATORS TO INGAGE FRONT HUBS . MOTOR WON'T MOVE TO 4 HIGH AND GRINDS WHEN TRYING TO MOVE TO 4 LOW, TRANSFER CASE MOTOR FAILING . CHECK VACUUM LINES AND ACTUATORS ON FRONT DIFF THEY FAIL, CAN CHANGE TO CABLE ENGAGEMENT INSTEAD OF FAILURE PRONE VACUUM ACTUATORS.

95 chevy blazer 4low works..but when shifting into

My guess is that it is probably the actuator on the front diff. It may also be the buttons. I had the same problem with my 1999 silverado which it turned out to be the actuator.

My 98 chevy blazer won't shift into 4wd.

Most common problem is the vacuum diaphragm that is so inconviently mounted UNDER the battery tray. The cable that locks in the front diff is attached to it and vacuum pulls it in/out.

My 1997 Blazer won't go into 4hi

Try disconnecting your battery for 30 min. After reconnecting battery turn ignition back and forth 7 times. This is a Chevy problem known as logic lock. this is engaged to let you know that there may be a bigger problem at hand and the computer wants you to get it looked at.

BLAZER TRANSFER CASE PROBLEM

many things, first check the vacuum hoses underneath the batery rack to make sure there are no kinks, if thats ok, check the oil levels in both the transfer case and front diff, if that's ok, you'll have to check the fork system on the front diff, and also something real stupid put ignition on shift to neutral and press 4 low then 4 hi and see what it does, if stuck in 4 low it will make like a clutch slipping sound but i've seen it stuck and make no noise cause you really have to go through neutral to in and out of 4 low.... good luck
