Buy a small economical europeon model with manual transmission,4 lt gas guzzler its a green piece nightmare machine.gearbox problem ??well its sounds like a computer control malfunction which if it is then its dealer only iam afraid to diagnose problem more than anything else as fitting wrong part and its still the same is costly.what can cause this multitude from a dodgy connection in a connector to a slide control on side of box .sorry i cant be more specific without car in front of me

slips in reverse too? (other shoe falls off......)
same answer for all a/t slush boxes.
linkage from shifter to box ok?>
check levels first.
check fuses, if TCM acts dead, (wont autoshift)
change the filter,
get it serviced.
if frisky, read the FSM and do the stall tests and the line pressure tests. otherwise get it fixed.

97 prado transmision oil requir

Manual or auto, main gearbox or transfer box?
Auto box will be normal trans fluid, transfer box will be gear oil probably 80w or 90w.
Main gearbox manual, lighter gear oil.

Reverse not working 2006 KIA Sorento

Your right about too much electronics ,and no the front clutch works all motion in the gearbox ,now iam not sure about this model but the renault gearbox that i have worked on fairly regular compared to other makes has a solonoid inside the gearbox that is operated by the lever for drive and reverse ,now the problem here is you have to remove the gearbox sump to test it ,also here in spain the parts are not sold seperate but only a complete exchange gearbox and if you ask at the dealer they will want to just change the gearbox as more profit in this than a repair but try a independante auto box garage which you will have in america or the Uk even germany but spain?? Now here their called granny boxes for old pensioners from northern europe and you would be laughed at trying to ask for a repair ,

Hi i have a 97 grand cherokee 5.2l and i have no reverse lights the bulbs are fine and it seems the fuses are fine aswel any ides ?

I think you have the reverse light switch usualy on the gearbox witch can be bad/doesn't work.
Thry findin it, it should be with only 2 wires and on the side of the gear box.

Transfer Case Lubricant for 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

that would be 80w90 for the differentual, for the gearbox it is 75w90 this is for a manual gearbox, and no do not use auto fluid in a manual box, it is way way thinner and your box would possibly last 2 to 3 days before you would be purchasing a new one, hope this helps

1st gear issues on my '96 Grand Cherokee Limited.

rip the gearbox out and fit a manual ,or scrap the truck because the cost of repair is greater than the resale value of this vehicle ,its worth a 1000euros if you get the right person ,4litre engine petrol ,road tax is astronomical and at 7 dollars for a gallon for fuel you can see where these gas guzzlers end up
