Question about 2000 Isuzu Rodeo
2000 5 Speed rodeo , has push button on dash. When disengaged the indecator light blinkes and stays in 4 wheel ..what could be problem??
I've had the same situation. I found the problem to be the Hi-Lo gear shift was not locked in place. In other words, it was between Hi and Lo. While the truck was off, I moved the gearshift from Hi back to Lo back to Hi, making sure it was in Hi gear. Then, after starting the car and traveling down the road, I found that the 4WD would disengage with the button.

If you have tried shifting stopped and moving, then I'd say the transfer servo could be broken. It is the motor on the transfer case that shifts it in and out of four wheel drive. If you know how to use a voltmeter, test the wires that run to the servo to see if it is getting the signals it should be. Newer vehicles usually have a computer associated with the transfer case motor. You could have the car plugged to a tester at auto zone to see if it is giving a code.
