I believe it's around 80, but anything higher than 60 should run it somewhat, just lacking power, and dogging out while accelerating, like a running out of gas symptom.

01 chevy malibu it starts but after 3 sec turns off fuel pressure guage says fuel pump is workin we even by passed tha theft system we changed the crank sensor and fuel pump relay any other ideas?

Hi Kaitlin:
3 seconds is a brutally short time to have the engine run. That's almost the same time that it takes to crank it over to try to start it. Is there any chance that it is actually stopping firing when the key is allowed to return to "run" from the "start" position?
If you have fuel, and you have spark, it will run. It sounds like you have fuel available, so unless the injectors are not triggering (bad sensor or wiring) something is killing your spark. Try checking each component separately and you should find which one is giving you grief.

I have a 99 Malibu with a 3100 V6 that will not start, the fuel pump primes constanly and there is pressure at the schrader valve. It's getting spark but will not fire. Any help would be great!

Try the fuel pressure regulator. Check the pressure specs and see if it is within limits. Too much or too little will cause your problem.
Good Luck!!!!

2001 CHEVY MALIBU WONT TURN OVER, UNLESS YOU SPRAY STARTING FLUID ON IT, THEN IT STARTS FOR A FEW SECONDS. HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE LINES IF IT IS THE FUEL FILER TO REPLACE IT.

lots of notes in here about overheating cars, everyone wants to replace the thermostat thinking that will fix it, but it never does. likewise lots of folks thinking their fuel filter is blocked solid. it is so seldom the fuel filter. There is a filter on the fuel pump take up before it even gets to the filter so they just are not going to get totally blocked up unless the gas tank is corroding away on the inside. but your issue does seem to be a fuel supply issue. i would be thinking more about the fuel pump or pressure regulator than the filter. have someone check the fuel pressure at the injectors.

Looking for camshaft sensor on a 02 malibu 3100 motor

It should be located right behind the powersteering pump..See if you can see the wires..The wires come out and go around the intake..Thats on a 2001 malibu..But i dont think they changed it..If its still located there,,its not to hard to remove..Go through the holes in the powersteering pulley and remove the poersteering bolts..Remove the fuel pressure relieve cap and carefully slide the pump out,,and move it to the side..Then youll see the sensor..Take the screw out and soak around the sensor with some wd40 and work the sensor out..The hardest part is working the sensor out

2001 chevy malibu wont start after the car runs out of gas and we put more gas

It may take 3-4 times cranking for a few seconds,
with a 5 second pause between to get fuel up to the engine. Also may have sucked up
some dirt/debris into the fuel pump after running it dry. May want to change fuel filter.
you can try to have someone bang on the bottom of the tank while someone else
cranks engine. Sometimes this will free up a stuck fuel pump. good-day!!

No fuel in motor. will not start

when you turn the ignition key to the on position you will hear the fuel pump run for 5 seconds.
if not heard replace the oil pressure switch for the third wire on that sensor runs the fuel pump the first 5 seconds to start the engine. once pressure is operating at normal conditions the relay takes over on the pump to run

Fuel pump not running al time and is a new pump

When the car is running, they run constantly. When you simply turn the key to the "on" position, they run for 3 seconds (until fuel pressure in the line comes up) and then cycle off.
Checking fuel pressure on the fuel rail will tell you it you have a fuel pressure problem
