2001 chev suburban 5.3 gas, engine dies after you start it up. It acts like it is starving on fuel. Could it be fuel pump, fuel filter or what?

try reving it after you start, if it still chokes or sputters your right. if not check your battery guage. i'd try changing your filter first because its the cheapest option. you might want to consider flushing lines too. worse case you'll need a fuel pump sending unit.

Hello even know the fuel pump works, it may have low pressure. these pumps are high pressure pumps. here is the fuel pressure spec

those are known for fuel pressure problems does it start hard all the time if so then u will need a fuel pressure test to see if u have 45 to 55 psi . if it starts hard after sitting a while then the fuel pump is not holding pressure u will have to replace. and change fuel filter

FUEL PUMP PRESSURE MAY BE GOOD WHILE RUNNING BUT THIS ALSO NEEDS TO BE CHECKED WITH JUST THE KEY ON. LOW PRESSURE IN THIS CASE EQUALS HARD START SITUATION. AS FOR A RELAY, THAT IS WHAT MAKES YOUR PUMP RUN PERIOD. BUT IT SHOULD BE LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD IN THE LARGE FUSE OR POWER CENTER (READ THE LID).

Have 2001 chev cavalair starts and dies and after it dies the check engine light will not come on untill you cycle the key and no talk with scanner at all

check to see if u hace any fuel pressure, more than likely the fuel pump is bad, or fule filter is pluged solid.

Fuel pump

i believe it's around 80, but anything higher than 60 should run it somewhat, just lacking power, and dogging out while accelerating, like a running out of gas symptom.

i have had the same problem.the solution is the fuel pump! i know you got pressure and it runs so how can it be the fuel pump? the pump is losing its prime you are getting pressure just no volume thats why its crank off crank off the system is priming itself again kinda like a weedeater or similar motor fuel is there just not enough of it to the injector To check this hook a pressure gauge turn on key turn off key release fuel should be plenty but if tis just a few drops thats it hope this helps
