Every 30,000 miles is the factory recommendation but if you use a good brand of fuel 60,000 is OK in my experience.

How to change fuel filter

Search from over 10 Million Auto Parts

The fuel filter is located inside the gas tank and is not considered a routine maintenance item. If there is a ecm trouble code that indicates the filter or fuel supply is faulty, then the filter ahs to be removed from tank. I've added a discussion blog which addresses the fuel filter.

Honda Civic dx has trouble starting. Battery and starter are brand new. Oil in it was 20w 40- I changed it to 10w 30 and ever since then it has had trouble starting. Please give me some advice on what

It sounds like after the engine starts it is running out of fuel. What model year is the vehicle? HONDA took away the fuel filter on all of their latest models. If it's got a fuel filter it should be replaced and a post mortem done on the removed filter. I hope this helps, Phil Bolton

It could be that you have picked up a batch of dirty fuel that has clogged the gauze input filter that is part ot the fuel pump inside the fuel tank.

My daughter car :Nissian Sentra 2002. GXE 14.8 troubling starting

The pump does have a filter on it but you should also have an inline fuel filter somewhere underneath your car, Check the pump when you turn the ignition key on the pump should run for a second or two then shut off if you can hear it , it is working. It is rare for a vechicle not to have an inline fuel filter but there are some models that don't have one. The filters on the pumps usually don't stop up that often,it's pretty rare.I would try to replace the inline filter call and ask your local part store if they have one for it and you will know for sure. And usually if the crank sensor is bad it won't crank at all.

Has trouble accelerating sounds like its missing and is bogging

Sounds like a timing problem to me. I would look at this first. It could be fuel related too. The old carburated engines would act like this when the accelerater pump on the carb would go bad.

Good Luck

Changing fuel filter

its easier and less trouble some if you have the right tools but it can be done with a screw driver and a pair of Needle nose pliers. Use fineness.

Idles erratically.Changed fuel filter

I own a 1994 Buick LeSabre. I purchased this car brand new. I now have over 150K on the car and other than replacing the tires, fuel filter, plugs and and alternator (with the exception of the tire, all other work was all done by myself), this car it has not given me any trouble. The bottom line, if you properly maintain a car, any car, it will be very reliable. In fact, I have owned several cars (9 to be exact) and they all have given me little trouble. Maintenance, maintenance, & maintenance!
