Don't rely on a Chinese jack to keep the car high enough to crawl under it.  Use wheel chocks of some kind and jackstands after raising the car high enough.
The battery will have to be disconnected; take the negative (ground) clamp off first, then the positive; keep in mind that disconnecting the battery is going to play havoc with alarm systems and perhaps anti-theft protections on the radio. Perhaps someone here can describe better what to expect.
The starter is generally snug to the engine with one end free, the other inserted in the bellhousing of the transmission where the flywheel is housed. The first thing to do on the starter would be to disconnect the cable coming from the battery or solenoid; this will be a heavy gauge cable. Depending on whether the starter has an integrated solenoid or not, there may also be a light gauge wire connected which carries the 12 V from the ignition switch (start position) to operate an integrated solenoid which is simply a relay with a coil powered by the ignition switch and a set of very heavy contacts that are closed with a bar to supply the 120-200 maps of starting current.
There probably won't be more than two beefy bolts (could be 3 though) that hold the starter onto the bell housing and pass through flanges on the starter.
Starters are pretty heavy for their size (lots of steel and copper) so don't get your face too close to it once the bolts are removed.
A cautionary note: be sure you really need a starter and not only a non-integrated solenoid which is much cheaper to replace. You should be able to verify this yourself if you have no manual; trace the path of the (disconnected) positive cable. If it goes straight to a hump on the starter, then it is an integrated solenoid. If, instead, it goes to an object not attached to the starter other than by another heavy cable, this is the solenoid and can be replaced separately.

Engine wont start from key switch

Check if the starter solenoid is faulty, check the power to the solenoid and if there is no trigger to the unit then the key switch contact can be checked. You can cross a +12 to the solenoid, if it wont work then the unit is faulty. If the solenoid works but does not power the starter motor then the mtor brush or commutator can be worn out. You will then need to remove the starter and overhaul.

Where is the starter located on the 95 buick century its a 4 cyl and i have no idea what it looks like

For 1995 Buick Century the starter is located in the front of the engine near the transmission bell housing.

To remove, disconnect the battery negative, mark and note where the different wires go on the starter terminals, remove the wiring from the starter, then remove 2 x 14mm bolts that hold the stater in place, slide the starter out an down, reverse to install.

Hope this helps (remmeber to rate and comment this answer).

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
