Raise hood follow wires from spark plugs if it has wires, most of the newer fords have coil packs for each cylinder and are actually mount on the spark plugs, these are prone to failure at some point, The coils break down. they cost around 45.00 each to replace. If you are getting a misfire, generally you will find the one it is by running diagnostics to pinpoint which cylinder it is

It should be located in the top of the distributor cap.

Hopefully this will give you an idea as to what the cap looks like WITHOUT the coil installed.

Hope this helps.

2001 nissan altima died while driving, engine cranks but won't start. there is no spark now to the spark plugs ( I changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator in case it was a fuel...

If there is no spark to the plugs, you may have inadvertently blown a fuse for the ignition system when changing other parts. Check the fuses in the box under the dash or under the bonnet. Also have a look and make sure the little carbon brush pickup hasn't fallen out of the distributor cap. Its the little black thing in the middle inside of the cap. It is spring loaded and sometimes can fall out.

How 2 put back on a distributor cap n where is it located

Depending on what you have you might not even have one but if you do follow spark plug wires to where they all meet up (Distributor Cap) is where they all come together. On the sides of the Cap there should be springs that can be released, if you don't know your firing order then mark with masking tape each wire to where on the cap it goes so you can match it up on the new. Usually you will replace the Rotor as well its under the Distributor Cap in the middle usually you just pull it up and off and the reverse to put new one on. Once you've done this put the Distributor Cap back on and lock springs down. Hope this helps but difficult to answer not knowing what your driving, Engine etc.

Where is the distributor cap located on a Kia Spectra 2001???

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. All you have to do is follow your spark plug/coil wires to the cap. This is the point where all the wires hook up in the same area, on the cap itself. The plugs plug in to the distributor cap. It should only have a screw or two that comes out to remove it. You might have to take out other parts to change it though. The distributor should be mounted on the edge of the engine, meaning the cap is right beside it.

Where is the distrubitor cap located on a 2001 dodge neon i drove through a puddle and everyone is saying i need to dry the cap but i dont know where it is located

I don't know for sure either - many newer cars don't have distributor caps. The easiest way to accomplish the task is to trace a couple of spark plug wires back from the engine block to the coil pack or distributor cap - whichever you have. Wipe off any water on whatever these wires go to. If you have a cap, and if you are having rough-running problems, take off the cap and wipe out the inside with a clean rag. Coil packs should be hermetically sealed and the only place for a problem would be right at the spark plug wire connection terminals or possibly at the low-voltage connection.

A quick way to distinguish a distributor cap from a coil pack if you don't know the difference: count the high voltage wires. The distributor will generally have one more than the number of cylinders; the extra goes to a separate coil. A coil pack will wires going to two cylinders in each section, but will never have more high-voltage wires than the number of cylinders.

You should also inspect the air duct, especially the air filter. Dry out any water here just to make sure you don't **** mud into the engine.

2001 Chevrolet Blazer spark location

Spark plugs are located on drivers side of engine and passenger side of the engine. Follow the distributor wires coming off your distributor cap. You will not be able to easily access all of your spark plugs from the top. For those pesky hard to reach spark plugs it is advised that you go through your wheel wells. You may have to remove the plastic shroud (or cut a hole in it).

Where is locate the camshaft position sensor on 2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo limited 4.7 l

The camshaft position sensor is located inside the distributor. It is a hall effect swich, simply remove the distributor cap and the rotor and you can lift it out, unplug and replace.
Have fun but beware a bad crankshaft position sensor can cause a false cam sensor code to be set sometimes.
Good luck.
