Car shuts off for no apperant reason

I will be driving and the car will just shut off and i can just start it right back up but it will do it between 5 and 10 times in 2-3 miles. What might the issue be with the engine?

My 86 Tbird has been doing the same, but not nearly as badly. Maybe dies once every 5 miles on average city driving. I changed the air filter and it seemed like it helped, my next step is to locate the fuel filter and change that.

You're fuel filter might be located under the car towards the back by the fuel tank., once you get under it on a creeper, it'll be quite noticeable

Car shut off while driving

There could be several things causing this to happen.

The car could be overheating. Make sure you have plenty of coolant and you fan is working properly. This would explain why it won't start for about a minute after it shuts off.

Another possibly reason could be lack of fuel. You probably want to check your fuel filter and make sure its not clogged up. You fuel pump could be going out as well. Usually if its a fuel filter problem, the car will start right back up after it shuts off, though.

Hope this give you a little bit of direction.

Car shut off for no reason while driving

Your car should not turn off while driving, After your revived car has been running a few minutes, turn off the engine and see if it will restart on its own, no cables attached. If it starts, you should be okay.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1999 toyota corolla. Car would not shut off went

I assume the car is a petrol! to stop a petrol engine the ignition needs to be shut down! if there is over run happening there are a few reasons for this. There is a problem with ignition mudule! spark plugs coked up! or the cylinders are coked.
If the car is a Diesel model then the reason for this happening is the shut off valve on the fuel pump is at fault.

Hope this helps.

Vehicle shuts off and will not start back up right away. P0601

what that means is your engine goes into protection mode and shut's off this is mostlikel;y do due to low coolant level or low oil level/pressure. have this checked by a qualified tech. diagnostic equipment must be used to clear the code after the problem is solved in order for your vehicle to run properly
