If i start the car and move it right away drive down the street about 5 or 6 block car losses power eng is fine trans is slipping this problem came on all at once .
Sounds like you have definitely an internal problem in the transmission if its slipping ...
It could have an electrical issue as well like a faulty PCM .
How could the mechanic say its fine if it slips.....
I
would start by going to a different shop/mechanic and have them scan
the data to see whats going on electrically..but i would think at this
mileage and with it slipping you're probably going to be looking at an
overhaul/replacement transmission.
SOURCE: bogging down
I had a the same problem. You need to check the vacum lines from the top of the intake to the fire wall, the lines will dry an crack an are easily broke. I fixed mine for now with simple straws an duck tape but its back to running the way it should. My truck was hit an i had the problems afterward, i also had a problem with my brake being too stiff i couldn't even get the pedal halfway down when running but the truck ran like a scared dog, this is what lead me to the vacums. The master brake boster hose had been tore bout half an inch out from the intake an when parked ran fine, just while moving would shift an cause my problems, After fixing this i went on to check all my lines. An ALL the lines on top were cracked or broke in some way. Well hope i helped, best of luck
SOURCE: transmission no longer moves car
I have a 2003 taurus also but these new cars use mostly synthic transmission fluid and if you have been going to some of these fast lube places and they have been putting the wrong fluid in your car plus over filling it it is very possible that the sensor on the transmission is bad check all this out before you do all this spend time at a ford dealer and ask some questions and talk with the service manager you may still have warrenty on this transmission
SOURCE: Doesn't shift into gear
I recently had this same issue in my 1997 escort. When my speedometer stopped working, my transaxle did not want to shift properly either. This of course caused the check engine light to come on. Without the speedometer working, the transaxle would ride out first gear for a bit until it seemed to "warm up", then it would shift ok. It would seem to slip here and there; especially after slowing to turn a corner. I used my scanner to find a code, and it gave me the code "P0500", which is the speed sensor. I replaced the speed sensor, but that did not cure my issue; I had to take it a few steps further.
My ultimate solution started by removing the instrument cluster from the dash and checking continuity between the speed sensor, and the speedometer. I had 100% continuity between the two, so I looked further. There is a small electric motor that runs the speedometer; it has 6 wires, 2 brown wires, a red wire, a white wire, a blue wire , and a orange wire. I checked the electric motor, and it was bad. I went to the salvage yard and pulled the electric motor and replaced it. After I replaced the electric motor, everything started working as it should.
I hope this information is useful to you as well. Your transaxle may not be bad; the speed sensor alone may fix your issue.

These solenoids are located inside the tranny pan. There are 2 solenoid packs. Need to be taken to the shop so each solenoid in packs can be tested individually order to isolate failing solinoids and can be replaced individually.
SOURCE: I have a new flywheel, starter, and clutch on my
First do not let this problem go for a long time it will destroy the teeth on the flywheel making it necessary to replace the flywheel $$$, the starter is wrong it is not extending far enough forward to fully engage the flywheel teeth, when ordering the new starter make sure they don't give you the same part # in regards to the starter, it is possible that the starter is just defective but if you install the replacement and the same symptom occurs they are giving you the wrong starter. It is also possiblr that a shim was left out during the reassembley of clutch/flywheel/trans.
