Question about 2003 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

Lights blowing on Barina

Holden Barina 1995 1.4 model. The bulbs do not last long. Especially the rear brake and park bulbs which often blow within 6 months. Both headlamps have been replaced over the car's life, and now both front park lights have failed.

The running voltage is 13.7 volts. Anyone had the same experience?

Any clues to the solution?

Running voltage is a little higher than normal... too high if reading while under load..(lights on)..but alternator should be checked /replaced in this scenario as moist likely suspect..good luck

Rear park lights keep blowing fuse

first mistake you make is to increase the fuse capacity to above that required. You have a short in the circuit and by putting such a large fuse in you run the very real risk of burning the wiring loom. Check the bulb sockets and check that the right bulbs are in the sockets. bulbs come in two styles. one has 2 contact points and is either for 2 filaments (stop and tail) or a earth wire (Plastic light units) and the other is a single contact that earths out through the metal base . If you have the wrong bulb in place the current will short directly across the contacts and the light will not come on and the fuse will blow. Fuses for tail lights will be 5 amp maximun

Does the fuse blow without using the lights or only when you step on the brake? Only when you switch to reverse? Only when you turn on the parking lights? Troubleshoot to which lights are causing the fuse to blow, then access the bulb socket to see if it is shorting out. Remove the bulb(s) and look into the socket for corrosion and burning/melting. Replace any sockets that apprear to be damaged. Let me know if you have more questions.

Have no rear parking lamps or dash lights when

In that car the fuse for the rear lights is also the same fuse for the dash lights. They did that so you would know when your tail light were out. Replace the fuse.
