I cant seem to be able to start this celica ive been working on?

I think it could be the timing belt ive had other novice mechanics look at it and they tell me it is correctly aligned not really sure though so if you know or have a diagram of the timing belt alignment for a toyota celica please share

Check your ignition coil and plugs for sparks. if no spark replace. if the rotor is turning then the timing belt is fine. rotor in the distributor cap. 3 screws will get you in there.

Was it running before you replaced the timing belt ?
Did you verify the timing marks are in the right place after installing the belt ?
Does the engine have normal compression ?
Will it try to start if you spray starting fluid into the throttle body ?

I have a 92 toyoya celica 2200motor i have a huge leak from the drivers side of engine, i have cleaned off the engine and it seems the oil is leaking down at a rapid pace from behind the belts and dripping...

When you say it's leaking from behind the belts, do you mean from behind the timing cover? If it is coming from behind the timing cover, it could be a crank seal or a cam seal. If it's either of these, then it will not be a very easy repair to do from home unless you're very familiar with timing belt work. If that's the case, you may want to take it to a mechanic.

Good Luck!

Engine cranks but won't turn over. Almost like its out of gas but isn't.

Sounds like you need to have your fuel pump serviced.

Cant get no. 1 piston top dead center with the timing belt

Ive replaced the head gasket two times (two cars) with this engine, and had a little trouble with this. The mark on the intake camshaft that matches the mark where it connects to the distributer is tricky. The mark on the distributer connection is not supposed to match up square with the mark on the camshaft, if you do match them completely, then the teeth wont match up with the timing belt completely (#1 piston position) instead, the mark shows you which flat surface to allign if that makes since. The notch (dist side) is on a flat hex surface, it is not in the middle of the surface but it should be. as long as the two pieces hex sides are lined up, you should then be able to get good timing with the #1 position after turning the crankshaft to get the timing belt to line up. its hard to explain but all markings are right for the timing belt, but the distributer notch to line up the cams for timing is a little off. match the two surfaces (notch should me a few mm to the right of the other mark) Ive done this on 2 toyotas (87 celica and 89 camry) and they both work fine now. Hope this helps.

Diagnostic code list for a 1997 *Australian* Toyota Celica

You could try troublecodes.net. Not sure if they have listings for AU vehicles tho. Can't a local Toyota mechanic print them for you? Or try a library if you have access.

92 toyota celica cranks does'nt start no spark at plugs 124,000 miles

SOunds like the timing belt has broke. To check you can take off distributor cap and turn over engine and see if the rotor turns. If not you have a busted timing belt. Please rate this a fixya if this helps. Thanks!!!

Timing belt snapped

well if u got a tow start i cant see it runining\
as none of the cams were turning
it might have jumped a bit
and it wont wreck your engine it will have to be retimed with the belt and the gear casing off\\\

and a camry engine will fit depending on the year of the engine
