The car starts to shake and acts like it is about to run out of gas when you step on the gas when you have the air conditioner on. IF you turn the the air conditioner off, it will run fine
The AC compressor in the car pulls about 10 HP of the engine when it is turned on, on this small engine that is noticeable by the driver.
On small engines, any minor performance problem is amplified with the ac due to the horsepower the compressor pulls.
You probably have a spark plug miss or injector problem that is made worse with the ac on.
If you have not done a routine tune-up on the car I would do that first, along with replacing the fuel filter if equipped.
I assume the check engine light has not come on right ?
