SOURCE: 2003 VW Jetta ''door open'' alarm goes off while driving

The door latch located in the door panel has a micro switch built into it assembly. It is what detects an open door. A new latch is about $150. If you could find a shop to replace it for you. You could also try buying some plastic-safe contact cleaner/lubricant and spraying the latch assembly out and opening/closing the door a few times to work it in.

SOURCE: I have a 95 VW Jetta III that I just purchased.

Insert the key into the door lock on the driver side and move it to the unlock position two times quickly. That should turn off the alarm.

I have a 1997 volkswagen jetta gl 2.0 and while i was driving suddenly my alarm goes off, so i shut off the car and go outside to unlock the doors and lock them to shut off the alarm but that doesnt work,...

I have heard of VW's of this era having issues with water getting on the alarm module board, which causes the alarm to go off without rhyme or reason. I believe the seal around the water deflectors near the windshield cracks or degrades. The alarm module should be under the hood near the windshield on the driver's side, under a plastic cover. If you can locate it, you could try drying it off and seeing if that helps.
An alternative is that the wiring in the door could be getting wet, if the seals are no longer good.
If you just need to make it *******, remove the fuse for the horn, if you can find it.

My 98 jetta wont start because the alarm is still armed. and i unlocked all the doors but still isnt shutting off. and the car wont start unless the alarm is disarm. how do i just take the whole alarm out....

ok so the same thing just happened with my jetta. So heres what worked for me: take off the door panel (drivers side) and you should see some melted or bunched wires together. just snip them and leave them be. It was either the wires or the sensor that messed everything up. This should work.

1997 Jetta Drivers side door will not open.

One thing... If your last 3 doors works fine it's mean that problem is only in your drivers side. In VW like nickalxjoe wrote is air pump. So there might be an air leaking which you can hear. So if you can hear from where air running out try to fix this first.

94 vw jetta would not start

94 Jettas have a anti-theft kill switch. It can mimik the starter or alternator. Lock all the doors with them closed, then unlock the drivers side with the key. Wait about two min then try cranking it. Should start up instantly, if not reset the computer.
