Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Battery trouble?????? my interior light got left on over night, it drained battery. so 94 jeep cherokee will not start. hooked it up to a charger for about 4-6 hrs and it will start, stay running maybe 30 seconds then die. Seems like after charging the battery it should be ok, wondering if that sounds like maybe the fuel opump or filter going out.

SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO START THE CAR AND GIVE IT SOME GAS. IDLE IT UP TO ABOUT 2500 RPMS FOR A MIN OR TWO AND THEN TRY RESTARTING.

2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE PARASITIC DRAIN

Most drains are caused by door switches or hood switches not turning off lights. It could really be anything. You can either get a meter, pull off your Negative battery cable and put one meter lead on your now off.negative battery cable and negative battery terminal. Set your meter to read dc amps. Start pulling fuses one by one until the meter reads less then .5 amps or 500 mA. If you dont have a meter you can try pulling one every night until you battery no longer drains and narrow it down from there. Anything with power could really be causing this. Alternator and starters are also known for draining batterys while not running.

1997 jeep grand cherokee interior light fuse. Where is it so I can take it out because my interior lights are staying on and going to drain my battery.

Hey there,
Sounds like you may have a bad switch at the door or in the dash on-off switch.
You could also remove the light bulb for a quickie, otherwise the interior light fuse should be in the fuse box: The older vehicles it was under the left side of the dash at the drivers seat (interior of car). Newer vehicles, it would be (typically) in the engine compartment near the drivers side fender wall.
Best regards
Ck

The interior lights on my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee started coming on while driving or while the car was parked about a week ago. Today, they must have come on during the night because battery was dead. ...

We had a similar problem with our 1996 Grand Cherokee. I don't know where it's located in the 2008 but there was a relay behind the glove box that was causing the problem with ours. I hope this helps.

1998 Jeep power drains battery over night

Before you disable your alarm try this, disconnect the alternator field plug over night, check battery voltage at the battery before you disconnect the plug then disconnect and leave alone over night, make sure you have at least 12 volts when you disconnect the alt.
Recheck battery voltage in the morning before you reconnect the field plug...

I suspect you may have a leaking diode in your alternator's internal regulator, have seen it many times on your model... Certainly worth a try. Let me know how it turns out....

2000 jeep cherokee interior lights wont turn off

I would check the door adjar switches. IF all the door adjar switches check okay, then check the head light switch .

Assuming the head light switch and door adjar switches are okay , Then there is a wiring problem. This is the worst case scenario .

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee alarm keeps randomly going off.

this happened to me recently with my 96 grand cherokee. the battery got drained by the alarm going off randomly at night. i pulled the fuse for the horn so at least my neighbors would only be bothered by flashing lights. then i couldn't jump the car because the alarm was still going off. i hooked my car to jump it to another car, and then i had to deactivate the alarm first by putting my key in the driver side door and unlocking the car. then i left it hooked to another car and still getting power but didn't jump it for at least 5 minutes in case the computer needed to reset. then it jumped fine. from what i've read online, this is a common problem that can be avoided if you stop using the power locks and always manually lock and unlock the doors with your key. its a little annoying, but apparently the power locks are connected to the alarm issue. hope the same works for you.

2003 VW Golf won't start - battery was charged

You need to charge your battery up more. Either get a battery charger or leave the jumper cables hooked up for a longer period of time.
Your battery was probably completely dead. You might even need a new battery...they really don't like to be completely drained.
