My subaru legacy's truck doo would not open. Appreciate your help
Hi! I recently bought a 97 Legacy wagon. It has 100K miles on it. My trunk door will not open. I tried with both keys and electric door switches. I would appreciate it if anybody has any ideas how to go about it. Thanks.

Check for a rusty handle. If you push the handle forward then try the power unlock then open the door with handle. I have been finding that the handle becomes rusty and does not return all the way when released. Therefore not allowing the locks to disengage. Hope this helps.

the drivers door lock is the main one in the system and its normally the problem when it goes wrong others are effected, you can remove it lubricate the mechanism and try agin or a replacement is needed,
Legacy, right? Can you tilt the backseats' backrests forward? like when you want to transport something big in the trunk... I suppose the sedan has this similarly to the station wagon. Use a pocket torch to look for the lock body from inside and there should be a small button or better a lever that you have no clue what it is there for, right? try to push it or pull it from ech side untill it opens. It is actually there to prevent transporting people in the trunk against their will(unlike the movies, where it is possible).
I hate to tell you this but the guy isn't returning your calls because the head gasket is blown and he probably knew it. As for the 1990... have you checked the water pump for leaks? (front/ driver's side on the bottom of the engine) My guess is that it's faulty and unfortunately, it's behind the timing belt. Both of these repairs will be a pretty penny. Good luck!
