Sounds like the blower resistor pack. It is usually located near the blower motor as it gets hot and needs the airflow to cool itself. It has three resistors that the switch controls to adjust the speed. Find it and change it and I bet that will be the end of your problem. Good luck.

The fan in my 2001 chevy tahoe doesnt work on 1 or 2 but 3 through 5 are fine

Usually a sign of a faulty blower resistor. The resistor changes the amperage of the circuit to change the blower speed.
You can look the part up online to get a visual.

At first the heater in my cavalier 2001 was working on everything but the first two speeds on the heater (low, and low-med), now only high works. The med-high does not work anymore. I can hear something...

With the lower 2 speeds not working, it was the blower motor resister pack that is bad. It is located in the blower motor housing which is way up in the front of the passenger side footwell. The part itself it fairly cheap (online ~$30, ~$50 locally [if I remember correctly]) and shouldn't take more than an hour to do yourself. The blower motor housing is held together by 3 or 4 screws, and 2 more that hold in the resistor pack itself. The worst part of doing this yourself is that it's in an awkward position for one of the screws. As for the rattling, it could just be something within the housing (you'll be able to check and clear it out of so).

The blower motor only works on setting 3, and 4, but not on setting 1, and 2 on a 1998 Chevy Cavalier basic 4 cylinder model.

Go to the dealer and get a resistor block for the blower motor. This is what regulates the speeds;when they start to burn out you will find yourself with only the high setting. This is because high is a direct 12 volt feed. While at the dealer have them show you the exact location,it will be under the dash on the passenger side. Its a simple job to do ,usually two screws hold it in,but watch your back its a tight fit under there! Good luck

ON A 2001 CHEVY MALIBU THE BLOWER FAN ONLY WORKS ON SPEEDS 4,5 .... 1,2,3 DONT WORK, FUSES ARE FINE

The blower fan uses a multi segment resister to control the fan speed, it is generally mounted just under the blower in the ducting. The reason 1,2 and 3 are not working is, sections of the resister is burnt out. The lower speeds are the first ones to go since they get hotter due the higher load in soaking the unused power. Resister is around $20. look for blower resister.

1998 Chevy Cavalier z24 heating/AC fan only runs on the lowest speed, how may I get it work on the other 2 speeds?

Replace the blower motor resistor. It is next to the blower motor.Should be on the passengers side under the dash panel.Good luck.

Why does the blower motor only work on spped 4 and

Usually when the blower only works on the higher speeds, the blower motor resistor has gone bad. This should be located somewhere near the blower motor itself, it is usually bolted to the blower motor housing (or in that area), just unbolt it and you can replace it. Hope this helps

Blower motor now only works in 5th speed, 1 to 4 not working

You are going to have to make a connector for your resistor to fit into the adapater under the dash. the new resistor doesnt reach the terminals on the connector. Even though it clips in place it doesnt reach. I took a piece of small soldier and put in the connector then plugged it in and it worked just fine. When you unplug the relay it will not work in any speed.
