Question about 1997 Acura CL

I Cannot get the rotor off the front of my 97 Accura2.2CL. I removed the four bolts holding the rotor to the hub, and the large nut holding the cv joint to the hub. The hub will still not come off so I can remove the rotor. Any ideas? Thanks

It is a pretty simple process and yes you need to mess with the CV but not much. An impact wrench will make removing the large nut holding the axle in the hub/bearing a whole lot easier. If you have one great, if not, it would be best to try loosening the nut while the car is on the ground. If your car has steel rims with hubcaps(MAGS, I'd put on the spare for this part), start by removing the hubcap then remove the cotter pin that goes through the threaded part of the axle and keeps the nut from coming loose. You may want to spray on some WD-40 and let it soak a little before u start. A breaker bar and socket work well, if u have just a rachet, try to find a 4 foot metal / aluminum tube (old tent pole) and slip it over the handle to give you some more torque to loosen the nut. Once loose, back the nut off and push on the axle shaft to see if it moves, probably won't, so more WD-40. You can raise and support the car, remove the wheel and brake caliper and rotor, that should be plenty of time for the WD-40 to work. Try moving it again, if it moves great, if not, hammer time. If you have a large puch or something comparable use it, you really don't want to damage threads. Leave the nut on the axle just in case you do hit the thread, when the axle is moving, take the nut off and this will straighten out the thread if it was damaged. Only thing left now is to remove the 4 bolts holding on the HUB/BEARING assembly. Once they're out it should slide off the axle with out any problems. Slide on the new one and bolt it back together. ONE CAUTION to note DO NOT MOVE THE CAR IF THE AXLE NUT ISN'T TIGHT, YOU'LL SCRAP THE BEARING!!! Here is a link just to show you what the hub assembly looks like from both sides. How do i remove the hub assembly on a 94 geo metro to change the rotor?

You have to:
Remove the large nut that holds CV axle into to hub and gently push the axle out of the hub.
Remove the brake caliper.
Pop the tie-rod-end's ball joint out of the spindle.
Remove the two bolts that hold the strut to the spindle.
Remove the bolt that holds the "a-frame" arm to the bottom of the spindle. 

The hub (the part that holds the 4 tire studs) is machine-pressed into the wheel bearings which are hidden inside the spindle, so you will have to have the hub pressed out of the spindle to free the brake rotor which is behind it.

1)Jack the front of the Chevy Cavalier up and support on jack stands. Remove the front wheels. Turn the ignition key just enough to unlock the steering wheelmag-glass_10x10.gif. 2)Remove the cotter pin and large axle nut retainer in the center of the rotor. Remove the two large bolts and nuts attaching the strut to the spindle. Push in on the CV axle where it protrudes through the center of the rotor and make sure it is loose enough to push out. If it is not loose, then put the axle nut on upside down---turn it for only five to six threads. Tap it with a hammer to push the CV axle out of the hub. 3)Turn the steering outward with the steering wheel--if you are working on the driver's side turn the wheel to the left. This gives sufficient room to remove the axle. The other side should be done in the same manner. Remove the axle nut if you used it to hammer the axle out, then grab the extension of the spindle above the rotor and pull it down and toward you as you grab the CV axle and withdraw it from the hub. 4)Put a drip pan under the CV joint at the point it enters the transmission in case there is any fluid loss. Place the head of the pry bar between the transmission and the CV joint. With a quick snap of the tool separate the CV joint from the transmission. There is a small circlip on the end of the CV joint that keeps it in place. Prying it with a quick snap will overcome the friction of the circlip and the CV joint will pop out. 5)Install the new CV axle by inserting the axle end into the transmission first. It will go in as far as the circlip. Back it out ever so slightly--about a half an inch or so, and sharply shove it in past the circlip. 6)Grab the spindle at the extension above the rotor with the holes for the strut. While pulling down and toward you install the outer end of the CV joint. To do this easily bend the CV joint toward the hole in the rotor and push into the hole while rotating the rotor to line up the splines. 7)Install the retaining nut finger tight. While lifting up on the hub and rotor assembly, push the top of the spindle with the holes in it into the strut and insert the bolts and nuts. Tighten them securely. Torque the large retaining nut to 200 foot pounds. Repeat the same procedure to the other side. Put the wheels on and let the car off the jacks. cheers!!!!!!

How do i remove the front left axle?

to remove your front axles also known as cv axles you have to pull your brake caliper and rotor off. Then you have to break your hub assembly nut that holds the cv axle tight to the hub assembly. Then you have to bust loose your upper and lower ball joints. After then its 4 or 6 bolts where your cv axle attachs to your front differental.

Steering knuckle removal

Are you talking about your CV shaft? To remove the knuckle, undo the CV shaft nut, remove the tie rod end nut, the upper and lower ball joints, and the steering knuckle will come off, then you can get to the wheel bearing hub bolts.

How to remove rotors on 97 dodge 2500 4x4

sounds like the rotor is stuck on the hub. Try beating it with a hammer you dont have to take the 4 bolts off they remove the wheel bearing. Axle doesn't have to be touched as well. After you remove the caliper and bracket the rotor should fall off.

Trying to remove rotor and hub assembly off my 97 dodge 2500 4x4

if you have twenty years experience rpm northwes why wouldnt you know that a dodge has several more steps to pull off a rotor. It is a difficult job especially if it had never been taken off before.

Can't take off my front rotors on my Prelude S 1994. There's a large four flange bolt that maybe holding it and I can't take it off.

Look between to of the lug studs and you should see a screw.Remove it and the rotor will slide right off.Stay away from the the center nut unless you are replacing the cv axle

As you probably are aware, those rotors are mounted inboard of the outer hub flange on your vehicle. Once you've removed the caliper bracket, you can remove the hub. The four bolts that fasten the hub to the steering knuckle most be removed. If you look behind the steering knuckle you'll see them. If your vehicle is four wheel drive, you must remove the front CV shaft nut as well. You will probably have to disconnect the lower ball joint to slide the shaft out of the hub far enough to get clearance for the bottom bolts. Once you remove the hub from the knuckle, you can remove the rotor from the hub assembly. Incidentally, the hub bolts have thread lock compound on them from the factory, that tends to make them really tough to remove however they will come out. Reinstallation is naturally the reverse of removal. I hope this helps.
