Question about 1991 Jeep Cherokee Limited

Heater and A/C air only come out of the top vents by windshield?

No matter where or what settings I lselect for the air in my Jeep, the air only comes out of the top vents.

    Yes I mean out the defroster. I'll have to check into those possible problems.

    You were right nascar I did have a vacuum leak. I had gone off road a couple of weeks ago to get a Christmas tree in the mountains and one of the hoses had worked its way loose. I simply reconnected the hose and it was fixed. Thanks for your help.

I assume you mean out the defroster. you have a vacuum leak going to the control head or a bad control head

the mode doors for the heater system are vacuum actuated you most likely have a broken vacuum line somewhere in engine compartment.

I would flush the coolant system first with a good flush, because alot of times the heater core will get partially clogged causing this problem.Or you may want to replace the heater core.

behind the center counsel between the floor and the heater housing is a part that is called the blend door actuator. these usually go bad and have to be replaced.

Vent from ac/heater will not change from top exhaust port

two issues here. bad servo motor maybe and, jammed lever assembly. i would also check the wire connections for lose and separated connections.

Defroster blowing snow inside car

Not really a solution but, check that blend door in heater box is operating and that a/c drain hose is not plugged. (if there is ice in there, it may take a while to clear it out)

'04 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Heats...but only through defrost vents.

Check the control cable that operates the diverter door in the heater box at both ends, to make sure that it operates the door when you move the control lever.

Some of these systems are controlled by vacuum. May want to start looking for a vacuum leak somewhere. Some mechanics spray starting fluid near the vacuum lines to test for leaks.
