89' RAMGER S - LEFT FRONT BRAKE DRAGGING

I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING .. I THOUGHT IT MAY BE CLUTCH BUT FOUND THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL SMOKING HOT. I CAN'T GET THE CALIBER TO DISENGAGE BY PUMPING THE BRAKES. EARLIER IN THE DAY I HAD THE TIRE REPLACED AND THE GUY USED A HAND JACK AND DROPPED THE TRUCK PRETTY HARD AFTER INSTALLATION. COULD THIS HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE BRAKE? WHAT ELSE SHOULD I LOOK FOR?

You have a collapsed rubber brake hose, not allowing
fluid to return & release the caliper

Do both sides

You should know how old the calipers are &
if you have been changing brake fluid ever two
years
If not, then their all rusted & frozen

SOURCE: The right front brake drags and gets hot

I suspect you got a bad rebuilt caliper and the piston(s) are sticking. Don't mess around with this and keep driving it. I would take the caliper back where I purchased it and get another one.

SOURCE: It seems like my driver side front brakes are

sounds like brake line (rubber hose) is constricted and or kinked. replace that.

My Mazda started smoking and making a really weird noise; when I turned off the a/c the noise stopped but it was still smoking and it smelled like something burnt. Could this be the timing belt?

Sounds like problem gone when AC clutch disengaged when switched off. Could be AC pump belt burning from seized or the belt slipped drastically. Is the smell like burning rubber or oil?

Roar from front right wheel

does the roar change with left or right turns? most likely a wheel bearing, Dodge has poor front ends. or..is the brake dragging? the rotor would be hot after driving, discolored, smoking.

The van smells and the lug nuts are gettign burning hot after it is driven for only 10 minutes.

my best guess would be a brake pad or caliper that is sticking on the "on" position. This will cause the brake to generate a high amount of heat and it will heat up the lugnuts. the smell should smell like burning brakes because that is what is happening. the smell itself is hard to describe . if it gets extremely hot you will see smoke coming from the brake that is not working correctly. if it is one brake doing it the steering should also "pull" to the side of the problem. right wheel brake dragging will cause the vehicle to "pull" or verr to the right side.

Has trouble taking off.low exhaust pressure, low fuel mileage

Suspects will include air supply, compression, and exhaust.

After ruling out the obvious basics (fresh air filter, unobstructed air intake) pull the wire clip to the auto-choke and idle for a few seconds before dropping it in gear to check for a change in power.

*Have you pulled the rear wheels to check for a binding E-brake or broken springs in the drums?
What feels like a left-front drag could also be a rear dragging...

*Has it been smoking lately?

2002 T&C 3.8, 4 speed auto heavy clutch or brake smell

1st thing to check is when you put in gear when cold and again when hot Take off fast ,,the noise if there igoes up and down with the speed and rpm ,,the noise you can hear mostly is the pump in side the gear box is not pushing enough pressure to the Forward Band clutch which drives the car so it has to slip and that is what you can smell the clutch bands burning And the more you can smell it the worse its getting and soon will let you down in a place you dont want to be..
So get it checked out new or as soon as poss
The A/Con clutch also sounds like its worn out.
