Question about 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

2 Answers

Oil Consumption I have an issue with using 1 litre of oil for every 1500 kilometers on the 5.7 Hemi engine. Purchased the truck at 23000 kms and now has 27000 kms. Is using 5w20 oil as recommended. And is synthetic. Engine is not leaking oil. Thanks for your help.

I don't think putting stuff in a 3 year old motor (still under warranty) is the answer. Would be in a 6 year old motor off warranty. Thanks for trying. I am having difficulty believing it is not a problem, as the dealer would like me to believe. Which is why I am looking for help.

If this is a 5.7 Chrysler engine, which I think it is (it would be nice to know) but if it is chances are the gasket located under the intake manifold is leaking and vacuum is sucking the oil into the combustion chambers. You have to remove the manifold to gain access.

My 2015 Isuzu Dmax 3 litre diesel auto 4x4 dual cab done 22500km is and has always used engine oil. Currently after 12000 km oil is down dipstick by 30-35mm. Total k's 22500. No towing is it normal

Its not normal to use any noticeable amount of oil between services these day's.

I would contact the dealership you purchased the vehicle from, and inform them of the oil consumption, they will have you monitor the level for a period of time.

Also, have you been using the correct grade of engine oil.

I would also check your turbo oil seals, and general check of engine for leakage.

Is the engine being filled with correct amount of oil, as some dipsticks can be out of calibration, causing overfilling and oil consumption down to correct level, something to check also.

Hi there my C55 use every 1500 Km one liter of oil is this normal

Oil consumption is outside specification, and needs around a litre of oil every 7 500km, not unusual for a race-bred engine. But, if you are only getting 1 litre for only 1500, you might want to change brand of oil, or ensure you are using the right type of oil.......

2004 ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi using 1 quart every 3,000 miles

Slide a large piece of cardboard under the truck after driving for ten minutes note in which area directly above the spot on the cardboard the oil is coming from then get under the vehicle with a drop light to look for the origin of the leak, if no leak is detected then it may be the engine is burning oil this could either be valve stem seals or broke or worn oil rings.

BMW X3 2.5si M series. High Oil Consumption

hi, this consumption seems high, i would take it to a dealer and ask them to check the oil sensor.......
P.S. is there a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust, if so, it may be burning a little oil, ask dealer to check it

Smoking at higher rpms

Hi, its time for a ring set job in this vehicle. the blue smoke is a sign of major oil consumption due to bad piston rings. you also have faulty valve seals as well. this is deep engine repair and it will be costly.

If you cant do this job soon, be sure to watch the oil consumption by checking the level regularly and, monitor the oil pressure as well.

My 2005 Endeavor with 60000 km burns 1 litre of oil every 1000 km at highway speeds, about half that around town. Is this a normal occurrence or is there a problem with the motor?

Not normal, clean burning engine, mine has 220,000 kms's. Are you using a full synthetic oil? Tried it a couple times and it took 1 litre between oil changes. I use semi synthetic oil, no issues. How long has it been burning this amount of oil? Get to your dealer and have him fix your engine.

High oil Consumption, BMW M5

Look for Castrol TWS 10W60 Motor Oil. This car should not burn so much oil, you need to use a different kind. It is recommended by BMW as well. I also heard the VANOS isnt an issue anymore, can be fixed with a different MAFF. Good luck!
