Question about 2005 Audi S4

2 Answers

I have a 2005 audi S4 B6. I just bought it with 37,000 mile on it. I just got it on the road and me and a buddy were beating on it. when driving hard the oil pressure light would go on but then turn back off. now the next day the MIL light went on. it blinks sometimes too. I tried disconnecting the battery to see if it would go off. it did but is now back on. the car shakes and sounds different. it idles funny but once the rpms hit 1200 the shaking (but not the wierd sound) stops. Please give me some ideas as to what it is. a buddy thinks something is off balance.

We have a 2005 Audi S4 Quattro. Same shaking problem and it won't get up and go like it did. We replaced one bad coil which we were told are common to go bad in this car. Now the code says misfire 3&4 We have to order the coils so they won't get here for 2 days or so. Love the car, hate the problems. Looking for a good Audi mechanic in Michigan that does not work for the dealership.

Sorry for the bad news i have for you, sounds like you dropped pressure to the top end which would mean that the Hydraulic lifters one or more have failed, could be that your intake or exhaust valve may made contact with the pistons at TDC. In any case oil pressure problems are known with that car, we found that one of the ckeck valves in the short block may cause that problem.
Solution would be new Motor at about $15000 with $4000 core unless warranty will cover. make sure you do not have an intake or exhaust system on the car cause they will not cover anything. Other option is to spend about $10000 to do a complete overhaul. First check your oil filter and see if you can see any metal shavings. But according to what you have written i would not longer drive or start the car. Sorry bud, i think your motor is done!!

Sounds like the car is misfiring. possibly a bad coil. If the check engine light is illuminated then there will more than likely be a CEl code for a misfire. it will also indicate which cylinder or cylinders are misfiring. I'm not sure but I believe I've heard someone say not too drive the car to far or hard if the check engine light is flashing.

A6 turbocharged. Whyu does it smoke when it covers a 120km per hour?

I am going to say 'blown turbo'. As I understand it, they needs replacing every few years. They are susceptible to heat and incredible revolutions. They have to be lubricated, the seals go, and you get smoke.

Hi I just bought an 51 plate Audi A4 1.9 tdi b6 model. The speedometer does not work and is constantly on zero and the fuel gauge fluctuates while driving. Also the odometer is stuck on 123122 miles. Any...

Have the speed sensor checked, that's mounted on the side of the tranny, that operates the speedometer. As far as the fuel gauge, probably the fuel sending unit is shot which is in the gas tank.

Fuel pump squeaking, filter resticted or pump failing?

Yes, it could be the fuel filter, but the pump may be on the way out also. Change the filter first. I have seen the pump get replaced and a noise still exists. It usually caused by the fuel filter.

Bad catalyc converter! audi s4 b6

Sounds like **** to me. Did they do a compression test to determine this? Cat Converter can't cause a misfire on one cylinder. It is more likely a plug, coil, or fuel injector. Get a second opinion!

Very weird, a bad cat should not make it mis-fire, if it is just one cylinder it is mis-firing on, its worth checking the coil pack for that cylinder
