1995 Buick Park Ave. Brake light remains ON and chimes on driving

The brake light stays ON. When we put the car in drive gear, it starts to chime continuously as long as the car is driven. Once in a while at start time it remains off and comes ON again during driving. The brake pads are all in good condition and brakes work properly. We do use Park Brake when the car is parked.

I have checked the brake pedal position, it is all the way towards driver and never locked to first click. When the park brake is released, is the connection at switch open or closed? Is there a way to test the park brake switch?

brake light turns on and off while driving.

the alarm chime comes on also.

it seems like every turn set it off.It still goes off on straight aways and chimes for about 10 seconds. Car does not seem affected.

This has only happened for days now.

The problem is the car think the park brake is on (intermittently). I would check the park brake switch, perhaps it's loose, or perhaps the park brake is pushed down to the first "click" spot. Also check the wiring connection to the switch, and the wiring nearby. Good luck!

97 brake light chime

Several possibilities here, First, if your parking brake lever is even slightly engaged your brake light will be on. so check the cable and switch to make sure it is not this. Second is the brake pressure switch on the master cylinder, the switch could be bad or your lines may need bleeding. and last, unless there is a separate light for it you anti-lock brakes could have an issue, which I would recommend a qualified mech look at that.

ello: First grab hold of the park brake pedal and pull it towards you, then open hood and visually make sure brake reservoir is full to the line, if either of the previous does not correct then you may have a failed park brake switch. Park brake switch is mounted on the park brake pedal assembly. If failed you should beable to unplug it and the light and buzzer should go off.

Im having a chiming problem with 1994 buick park ave.the brake light stays on and wont stop chiming even if i pull the fuse. i think i must replace the rotors, could that be the problem?

Not for sure on rotors, but you may try pulling up on the e-brake pedal. I had that problem with a ford and thats all it was. Hope this helps.

The switch for that light is on the e-brake assy. If you look above the pedal there will be a one wire switch on the mechanism.
