How can I get my emitions down as its failing just on this only any suggestions


COULD BE MANY THINGS. START WITH NEW PLUGS. CHECK WITH A SCANNER THAT CAN READ LIVE DATA TO SEE WHAT THE O2 SENSORS ARE DOING. NOT SWITCHING LEAN TO RICH AND BACK OR SWITCHING SLOW CAN CAUSE HIGH CO2. A BAD MAP SENSOR OR MAF SENSOR ALSO . CHECK CODES FIRST

I have a 95 grand jeep cherokee and i have failed 2 emission they say it is a the NOx is to high what would cause that?


What causes High NOX Emissions

Among the potential causes of non-compliant NOx readings are:
Misfire condition
Malfunctioning or improperly adjusted EGR valve
Failed oxygen sensor
Leak in exhaust tubing upstream of converter
Excessive carbon deposits in combustion chamber
Improper spark advance
Blocked coolant passage
Overly lean air-fuel mixture
Damaged cold air duct
Failed or malfunctioning catalytic converter
Corroded or damaged engine sensor electrical connections

Hi Larry, I your position I believe I would take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan and then check the read outs. There could be a problem with any one of a number of sensors but I believe you'll end up with all odds pointing at the cat. Regards John

My car didnt pass emissions because it was getting to much gas .the distributer cap, sparkplugs,and wires were replaced recently its a 85 lincoln town car


What were the emission readings, e.g.
what gas was to high?

That is how you start to figure out your problem

what were the specific inspection details like Co, 02, CO2 and NOx readings?

furthermore, have you done any maintenance like fuel filter, oil change and spark plugs?

Failed smog


means that the hc,co2,nox, emissions are too high, you will need the numbers in ppm on the read out to begin diagnossis
