I is missfiring sometimes and not other times would it matter if the timing belt cover is on or not

SOURCE: Bad water, Timing Belt replacement

hi it sounds like the belt is out a tooth as if it worked ok before the belt was fitted if the belt is correct it would run as before the engine light will come on if is misfiring soon as it detects it misfiring on more than three occacions and if its missing n 1. 2 and three this would seem to back this up do a compression test see what that reveals if it is out a tooth it may well have bent a valve hope this helps yates210456

Loosen motor mount and use a jacck to lift up the engine a bit. Remove timing belt cover.After you remove the valve cover gasket, place a file or something in the grooves at the end of the cams to stop them from turning and loosing timing. remove timing belt and slip new belt on.

How to change timing belt on a 1987 ford ranger 2.0L 4C 5speed

You need to get a manual. Try the Haynes manual for your car. Try autozone; generally available for around $20. This is not the type of thing that can be covered here in enough detail to do you any good.
Buy new timing belt. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove timing belt cover. make sure cylined #1 is set at TDC. making sure all componets are properly alligned and losen tensioner to remove old timing belt. Install new timing belt. Tension belt, ensure all components are alligned properly, replace timing belt covers and reconnect battery.

Camshaft timing mark crankshaft timing mark

Belt covers need to be on. Timing mark on crankshaft (while on compression stroke) should line up with TDC mark on cover. then Camshaft mark, needs to line up by looking through access hole of cover, and align mark on cam sprocket with pointer on inside of belt cover.

Timing Dpecs for Toyota Supra 87 6 cylinder

1987 non-turbo: 10 deg Before Top Dead Center (BTDC) @700 rpm
1987 Turbo: 10 deg BTDC @650 rpm.

To set the timing, you will need to connect a jumper wire between terminals E1 and TE1 on the diagnostic terminal. This diagnostic terminal is located just aft of the engine compartment fuse box. It is a black plastic box marked "diagnostic" on the cover, which flips open to reveal the terminals inside. There is a diagram on the inside of the cover which explains the terminal positions. On the Turbo model, you need to remove the forward section of the engine cover to gain access to the number one spark plug wire.

Remove Belts and Upper coolant hoses. Then Romove Crank pully and any other pulllys in the way and remove timing belt covers upper and lower.

After market power module for a 1987 Chevy Sprint

You might be able to find a turbo or purchase it from chevrolet. 1987-1988 there was actually a turbo chevrolet sprint it came in two colors red and white it boosted horsepower from 44 to 70 this doesn't seem like a lot but when you put it in a light car its gives it a boost. I do believe the turbo option was only available with the 5-speed transmission.
