This is a Hybred and it is the high voltage that I am having trouble resetting. the 12v system lights up the panel OK. All the fuses look good.

  • rodige Dec 13, 2008

I pulled the fuseable disconnect in the trunk and disconnected the battery all in an attempt to reset the electrical system to reset the low tire warning which did not self reset after replacing the blown tire.

  • rodige Dec 13, 2008

Yes, I did this when everything was off and no the car does not start or move now.

    2007 Nissan Altima Hybird.
I pulled the high voltage fuse and disconnected the 12v battery in an attempt to clear all the power in the system to reset the low tire light which did not reset after the new tire was installed. After connecting the batteries all of the dash lights come on but am unable to start the car. All of the fuses appear to be good and I know there must be a power reset somewhere. HELP!!!

It was not a blown fuse but the fuse assembly was not fully engaged in its cradle

Hi
you should check and see the batttery smart visor indicator (if applicable - see owners manual)
this may be that the battery has been drained and does not have enough power to rotate the starter. lights, dashboard, instruments light up ok as the voltage is there but the power (amperage) is low. please refer to owners manual on how to recharge your battery. bare in mind that removing the baterry from the care will reset systems (audio, alarm) and you wil need to recode them by using the codes provided with the car.

Yeah, you might've blown a fuse, did you do it while the engine was on or off?
does the car not start anymore?

My trunk will not open. When I take off battery cable and replace, it opens once. Is there an easy fix? relay etc?

When the rear compartment lid release switch is pushed, the rear compartment lid release signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) is grounded. BCM then grounds the coil side of the trunk release relay through the trunk release relay control circuit. With this voltage is applied to the rear compartment lid release actuator, opening the rear compartment.
Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the trunk relay.
  2. Test for 65-90 ohms of resistance between terminals 85 and 86.
  3. ?‡'
If the resistance is not within the specified range, replace the trunk relay.

  4. Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:
  5. ?€¢
    30 and 86

    ?€¢
    30 and 87

    ?€¢
    30 and 85

    ?€¢
    85 and 87

    ?‡'
If less than infinite resistance, replace the relay.

  6. Install a 10-amp fused jumper wire between relay terminal 85 and 12 volts. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal 86 and ground. Measure for less than 2 ohms of resistance between terminals 30 and 87.
?‡'
If greater than 2 ohms, replace the relay.

Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the trunk relay.
  2. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the coil side B+ circuit of the trunk relay and ground.
  3. ?‡'
If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the voltage control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the trunk relay.

  4. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the switch side B+ circuit of the trunk relay and ground.
  5. ?‡'
If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

  6. Disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid latch.
  7. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohm of resistance between the rear compartment lid latch ground circuit and ground.
  8. ?‡'
If greater than the specifed range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

  9. Connect a test lamp between the trunk release relay control circuit and the coil side B+ circuit of the trunk relay.
  10. Command the trunk release solenoid ON and OFF with a scan tool.
  11. ?‡'
If the test lamp remains ON all the time, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

    ?‡'
If the test lamp remains OFF all the time, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

  12. Connect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid latch.
  13. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the switch side B+ circuit of the trunk relay and the voltage control circuit of the lid latch. Verify that the lid latch activates.
  14. ?‡'
If the lid latch does not activate, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the rear compartment lid latch.

  15. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the trunk relay.
Component Testing
Rear Compartment Lid Release Switch
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the trunk release switch supply voltage and ground terminals with the switch in the open position.
  3. ?‡'
If less than infinite resistance, replace the rear compartment lid release switch.

  4. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the trunk release switch supply voltage and ground terminals with the switch in the closed position.
  5. ?‡'
If greater than 2 ohms, replace the rear compartment lid release switch.

  6. Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the lid release switch housing/case.
?‡'
If less than infinite resistance, replace the rear compartment lid release switch.

Could be the relay , could be the switch , could be a problem with the BCM !

No power at all battery reading over 100 volts and fluctuating.

Nothing, you are obviously doing something wrong. They call it a 12v battery for a reason.

The Inertia switch. Located either behind a front kick panel or in the trunk, this part has a reset button on it. If the right frequency is felt by door slamming or trunk closing, a Parking lot bump, etc. this part will disconnect the power to the fuel pump.

Transmission oil check

google that. A/T cvt OR M/T AUTO OR STICK???????
IF doing DIY on a hybrid, read the FSM first. no really, it can be dangerous.! read all warnings first, then act.

open glove box , read the operators guide. see page on maintence
and see transmission checks?
on newer cars, there is no dip stick.
here are are the words, for EV.
Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions, such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. Make sure to turn the power switch off before removing the service plug grip. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system. After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals.
now the page on trans , fluids
see HV311 transaxle photo in FSM
see the 2 plug on the rear. note the lack of dipstick !!
see them>? (google image finds it in 1sec flat) look.
use the correct toy fluid, do so every 50k miles. do not wait for 100k.
life time fluids are BS, (car sales hype and EPA (bs) to the max)
get the FSM and read it, its all there,
if too cheap for a real book ,take the car to any ASE mech, /shop.
they know what to do and have the book.
they also have alldata.com to see, $15

Toyota camry hybrid 2007 model hit from behind and will not start.said check hybrid system. what could be the fult?

The low voltage accessory battery and high voltage hybrid drive battery are in the trunk area. If hit from behind the hybrid battery may have been damaged. The high voltage battery is the one that actually starts the car. This battery is too high voltage for a normal person to check. Call the dealer so they can get in the shop to fix with the right kind safety procedures.
